NFL: 32 Quick Hits around the League
It's two weeks into the NFL season, and nothing has been answered. Except, maybe, that the Cowboys, and not the Patriots, might be going undefeated this season.
While I'm sure no one has taken the loss of Tom Brady lightly, it's still somewhat disturbing to me that the face of the Patriots' offense is...er...Matt Cassel. Either Bill Belichick is really smart, or he was afraid signing another quarterback would be a sign of desperation. Because everyone knows that as long as you can beat the Chiefs and Jets, you're Super Bowl bound, right?
Here are the top questions/observations for each team heading into week three:

Colts Release Kenny Moore

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
1. Dallas Cowboys
Is it just me, or does Tony Romo sit in the pocket so long he could do his taxes? He's taking naps during plays and waking up in time to sling out 20-yard passes whenever he feels like it. It's quite possible he only makes a mistake every now and then to save himself from boredom.
2. New England Patriots
Matt Cassel looks like he belongs in a strip mall selling shoes, not taking over for a future hall of famer. The Jets have a decent defense, and while Cassel didn't do anything to prevent optimism, I get the strange feeling he won't be saving the Pats' season.
Marvin Harrison is, for all intents and purposes, finished. He can't catch the ball like he used to, and when he does, he doesn't do anything with it. Peyton Manning hasn't lost anything, people. He's just shaking off the rust.
Everyone needs to stop worrying about Big Ben's shoulder and admit the truth: Willie Parker is the reason for their success, and if it's going to continue, his dominance will have to as well.
Aaron Rodgers will soon learn that NFL quarterbacks throw interceptions, and this nice little life of everyone loving him can last only so long. There's a reason his coaches have held back praise on him. They know what the Dallas defense is going to do to him.
Michael Strahan might end up kicking himself come February. This team hasn't missed a beat.
Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown are hardly being missed. That's just how good Donovan McNabb is.
Sooner or later, Mike Shanahan has to pick a guy to take the load for the ground game. And when he does, he'll finally realize he doesn't have a true running back.
For the now, they're still a Super Bowl contender. But what happens when they lose at home in front of the nation to the Jets? LaDainian Tomlinson hasn't even scored a touchdown yet, and no one is concerned?
Mr. Back-up is at it again, keeping the torch in his hands and the heir on the bench. Kurt Warner is as good as they come, as long as there isn't a pass-rusher within a mile's distance.
I felt if they could start the season 1-1 they'd be coming out on top. But at 2-0 and inviting Steve Smith back, this team is quickly on the rise.
Losing to Washington like that brings back memories of horrible inconsistency from last season. Reggie Ball is great and all, but a team with no true identity with the ground game points to another 8-8 year.
13. Tennessee Titans
Kerry Collins has been sitting on the shelf for so long, he forgot he wasn't as good as people thought he was. That just might be enough amnesia to make a veteran quarterback play well.
It's understandable that their offense has been so shady, but it has to get better. They're staring a rising Indianapolis offense and an 0-3 record right in the face.
15. Seattle Seahawks
Do you really think Mike Holmgren will allow his team to slip to 0-3? I mean, come on, they're facing the Rams.
16. Buffalo Bills
Not since the days of Jim Kelly have we seen a quarterback make average play look so sexy. But really, Trent Edwards is moving the ball and not making mistakes. The Bills are on their way to 3-0.
17. Chicago Bears
Was that victory over Indy a fluke, or did they just run into a better team in Carolina. Could be neither, could be both. But they won't be better than 8-8 if Kyle Orton can't open things up some more.
Gus Frerotte is an upgrade? Things are worse in Minnesota than we thought.
19. New York Jets
I'd give anything to not see Favre and Leon Washington sacked at the same time again. But I digress. The Jets are better than this...maybe.
They won with Brian Griese, but that was much by default. The Bucs are headed back to below .500, where they belong.
21. Cleveland Browns
Braylon Edwards is what's wrong with today's receiver. He can stretch the field and scare the hell out of defense, but he can't catch the damn ball. I mean, I can understand a funk, but this is just awful.
22. Washington Redskins
So which performance do we assess Jason Campbell on, and more importantly, the Redskins as a team? They are clearly the odd team out in their division.
23. Houston Texans
If Steve Slaton is the chosen one to save this grounded run game, then consider their playoff hopes washed out.
I wasn't sure about giving up on Alex Smith, but now that I see O'Sullivan in action, I agree it's the right move. He can really move around in the pocket.
We are all aware that it's Jordan and not Carson Palmer that's been playing these past two games, right?
26. Baltimore Ravens
The goal for the rest of the season: Play Houston every week and have game postponed. Undefeated!
27. Detroit Lions
Jon Kitna is the man.
28. Atlanta Falcons
Awesome first game aside, this is still a 4-12 team.
29. Kansas City Chiefs
Believe it or not, I feel Tyler Thigpen gives the Chiefs the best chance to...get a new franchise quarterback. Honestly, as long as Brodie Croyle isn't playing...
30. Oakland Raiders
Boy, did Darren McFadden light it up against Kansas City. Oh, did you think that was a good thing?
31. Miami Dolphins
Quick, name a player on the Dolphins worth mentioning!
32. St. Louis Rams
Have you ever seen so many offensive players drafted in the first three rounds in fantasy football drafts do absolutely nothing? Have you forgotten last year's Rams already?
