Detroit Pistons: Nobody, Not Even Coach John Kuester, Messes with a Masked Man
OK, Prince (no, not the Artist formally known as Tayshaun), I must admit I had to look up "buffoonery" in the dictionary regarding your thoughts on Rip Hamilton's benching.
I applaud you too, Chauncey, for voicing your displeasure about this totally unnecessary and unacceptable saga.
I’m also proud of you, Rip, for standing your ground with pride and dignity, having been denied at this stage in your career the game of basketball on this platform.
It’s certainly neither fair nor right the manner in which it has been done by coach John Kuester. Imagine Prince, the Artist, not being allowed to perform?
Although I’m aware of John’s inexperience (two years) as an NBA head coach, I was just shocked to find out through Chris Mannix’s “Feud between Pistons’ Hamilton, Kuester take turn for worse” inside the NBA article that he was a member of the 2004 championship team coaching staff.
So, he must know you can still play at a more than respectable level much like Chauncey?
After all, isn’t it partly—if not mainly—his duty as head coach and long-standing member of the Detroit Pistons organization to ensure that each and every player wearing the Pistons jersey believes and buys into the team system; one which must be conducive to excellence and productivity by and for all.
I question the notion of a coach, any coach, let alone a good/successful one with very poor communication skills thriving in the NBA.
Business is and always will be business. It’s how one conducts it.
John Kuester, at the end of the day, you are the current head coach of the Detroit Pistons.
Although it is your business, I implore you to immediately sit down with Hamilton for a tête-à-tête, and this time don’t send the team’s head of security to request his presence.
Don’t wait for tomorrow. It could be too late.
You always hate seeing a champion, any champion being treated disrespectfully.
On a different note Rip, once the smoke clears up and you’re back to producing points (Knicks?) even closely to the way you used to a la “Reggie Miller” (great, great player although not a champion) should you maybe lose the facial hair and get the mask back out.
At the end of the day, nobody but nobody messes with a masked man—not even John Kuester.
