New Hampshire: First Race "Points" To Problems
New Hampshire has a history of producing unlikely results and winners. This weekend was no exception.
After getting around a "vulnerable" Jimmy Johnson, Greg Biffle crossed the finish line first and showed he was a legitimate championship contender.
Having set the "bar" high for most of the season, Kyle Busch came to New Hampshire with the points lead and what most thought was a lock on his first championship.
His hopes, and points lead were "swayed" early in the race when a broken bolt in the front sway bar made his car all but impossible to drive.
In typical Kyle fashion, he ignored the constant advice of his crew chief to drive the car carefully until they could get a caution.
His continued aggressive driving would once again have consequences on lap 83.
For the second time in as many races, Busch was involved in an accident. This time, he took Jaime McMurray and David Reagan with him.
The spin and eventual "Shrub Scrub" will all but put him out of the race. Although he returns multiple laps in arrears, the incident not only costs him his points lead, the ripple effect would plummet him to sixth by the end of the race.
Jimmie Johnson continued his momentum with a second place finish.
Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson will share the points lead going to Dover, with Biffle third, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Jeff Burton tied for fourth.
Jeff Gordon and Matt Kenseth are the bottom dwellers.
Kyle Busch is now in unfamiliar territory.
He has made it clear time and time again that he is a healthy person. Sadly, it's mostly from the neck down. Smart drivers win championships.
It would be nothing short of a miracle for him to overcome the five powerhouses who are now ahead of him.
Reporting from a "Swayed Bar", I am David Yeazell.
