New York Jets & the Biggest Trash Talking Teams in Sports
The New York Jets have made a habit of talking...a lot. They took shot after shot at New England this past week leading up to their epic AFC divisional playoff game. Fortunately for the Jets they were able to back up the talk this time and defeat their arch-rival.
But the Jets aren't the only team that has made a living with their mouth. In every sport there is at least one team that likes to talk, and talk a lot. They will call out anyone on anything at anytime, it doesn't matter.
The other game in the AFC featured two teams that are no strangers to talking, Baltimore and Pittsburgh. They hate each other just as much as New England and New York hate each other. They talked a lot going into the game and coming out of the game.
So who are the biggest trash talking teams in all of sports?
Who likes to run their mouth a lot more than they probably should?
Here is a list of the biggest trash talking teams in all of sports.
New York Jets
1 of 12
New York is known for their smack talk more so than their performance on the field. They have been talking ever since Rex Ryan took over as head coach in 2009. Their performance is starting to catch up to all the talking.
After an uninspiring nine-win season last year, the Jets qualified for the playoffs. They were able to pull off two victories over Cincinnati and San Diego and reach the AFC title game against Indianapolis, which they lost.
This season, the trash talk has gotten even more out of control and their play has been catching up to it. In a week filled with smack talk, the Jets said they would take it to New England this past week. Then they went out and did it. With one more victory and they will have two weeks to talk heading into Super Bowl XLV.
Pittsburgh Steelers

Usually the Steelers are a very reserved team, save for James Harrison who probably talks in his sleep. Whenever they play the Ravens, something changes. They turn into the New York Jets of the AFC North.
Hines Ward, the emotional leader of the team, is starting to get more involved in the trash talk. But the key players in the Steelers verbal parade are Harrison and James Farrior.
This week’s Jets-Steelers AFC title game could be more remembered for the talk leading up to the game than the game itself.
Baltimore Ravens

There is no shortage of talkers on the Ravens team. No player talks more, or with more passion, than Ray Lewis. The future hall-of-fame linebacker is one of the most ferocious, intense and calculated talkers in all of sports.
Lewis is just the tip of the iceberg, as this team can engage in the trash talk as well as anyone in the NFL. They were locked in a war of words with the Steelers this past week. There are few teams that can match the Ravens when it comes to smack talk.
Chicago White Sox
4 of 12
Two players on the White Sox in particular could be in the trash talking hall-of-fame: Manager Ozzie Guillen and catcher AJ Pierzynski. They are two of the most beloved players in Chicago and two of the most hated everywhere else.
There’s no other manager in baseball that stirs the pot like Ozzie Guillen. In a sport that is too often guarded and restricted, it’s comforting to see a manager willing to tell things like he sees them.
Miami Heat

Since the Miami Heat acquired “The Big Three” they have gotten involved in the trash talking game more than ever. LeBron James appears to be coming into his own as a “villain.” He is going to talk to anyone who will listen.
Plus, their introductory press conference was a sight to behold. Those three were the cockiest, arrogant and brash NBA players when talking about what they were going to do. Right now, it’s doesn’t appear like a lot of teams can stand in their way.
Dallas Mavericks

Does it really count against the team if the owner is the trash talker?
Mark Cuban loves to talk. He talks to the referees, players, coaches, fans, anyone who will listen to him. He hasn’t changed one bit in his 10 years as Mavericks owner.
I don’t know if that makes this team great at trash talking, but he is a reflection of the team and it makes them eligible for this list.
Connecticut Women’s Basketball

Since college athletes change so often, it’s more than okay to make the coach the face of the team. Geno Auriemma has never been shy about giving his opinion. In doing so, he has alienated a lot of people from UConn’s extended family.
This year he was very outspoken with the media about how the coverage of the team’s 90-game win streak.
UConn makes the list because of their head coach, Geno Auriemma.
New York Rangers
8 of 12
In hockey, if you have Sean Avery on your team you automatically qualify for the list. He is one of the most outspoken players in all of sports. He has an opinion on everything and he is not afraid to share it with the world.
The Rangers haven’t been a power in hockey for a long time, but Avery keeps them relevant. He is a ticking time bomb that could let anything slip at any moment.
Washington Capitals
9 of 12
For a team that constantly disappoints in the playoffs, the Washington Capitals talk a lot. Their best player, Alex Ovechkin, is one of the biggest talkers in the league. He once said in regards to hockey analyst Don Cherry saying his celebrations weren’t the Canadian way, “He is going to be pissed…I love it.”
If they are able to win a Stanley Cup, or even get to the finals, all that talk could be justified. Until they do, they are just loudmouths who can't cut it in the postseason.
Joe Gibbs Racing Team
10 of 12
In particular Kyle Busch, who has been referred to as an a$$ on more than one occasion. He seems to have a violent temper when he is out on the race track. There are numerous videos in which he is screaming at his own crew.
Whether it is passion or intensity, Busch, and Joe Gibbs racing, have built a reputation in NASCAR for talking.
Stewart Haas Racing
11 of 12
There might not be a more polarizing figure in NASCAR than Tony Stewart. He doesn’t let anything stop him from telling things like he sees them. He has gotten involved in a number of feuds with other drivers throughout his career.
There are very few athletes, if you consider NASCAR drivers athletes, that have been as outspoken as Tony Stewart. He is a very unique talent and personality in the world of NASCAR.
Cincinnati Bengals
12 of 12
It's sad to think that Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens could find themselves somewhere else next year because they made the Cincinnati Bengals worth watching, even when they were terrible this year. But as long as those two guys are on the roster, the team will be on this list.
Those two love to talk about...themselves. They will tell anyone with a microphone how great they are and what they are going to do to their opponent. Sadly, all that talking didn't actually lead to anything, but those two were fun to watch together, if only for one year.
