TNA: Is There Too Much Stable Business In The Company?

Roger T. Jan 15, 2011

Stables—groups of three or more people—have always been popular within the wrestling business.

There have been many famous factions, such as Four Horsemen, NWO and Power Trip

More recent stables include Legacy, Straight Edge Society and Nexus.

Within the last 3 years, how many factions has TNA seen?

There has been E.V 2.0, Main Event Mafia, Christian Coalition, Fortune, Immortal and Frontline.

I assume The Band is one.

I try to catch up with TNA every chance I get. From what I know, they have Immortal and Fortune at the minute.

Every time in TNA, how is a new stable formed?

TNA pitches together many superstars with nothing in common. I myself do not like Immortal.

Immortal is another faction TNA put together with guys like Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Abyss, Jeff Jarrett and Jeff Hardy. Before Immortal become a solid faction, what were these guys up to?

Abyss was dealing with Hogan, Hardy on the path to World Title, Bischoff and Hogan dealing with Management, and Jarrett in his feud with Samoa Joe.

Once came TNA Bound for Glory, and that was when "they" appeared. Why would TNA create another stable such as Immortal when the Fortune faction is still going?

TNA does not have brands. It would make sense to have the Straight Edge Society on Smackdown and Nexus on Raw. It wouldn't make sense to have Immortal, E.V 2.0 and Fortune every week on IMPACT. TNA always creates their factions with superstars nothing left on their plate, like Main Event Mafia, Fortune and Immortal.

The only factions that have some sense to them is Frontline, E.V 2.0 and The Band.

Frontline was created to take down the MEM. E.V 2.0 was a group of ECW Originals who should have only appeared at Hardcore Justice. The Band is the old NWO group.

WWE doesn't get too much into the stable business.

Legacy consisted of Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes—three 2nd- and 3rd-generation superstars to elevate themselves to main event status.

Before the stable became solid, they needed help from Orton and were told that they can outlasts their fathers.

Straight Edge Society, a group put together that fit perfectly with CM Punk's straight edge gimmick. People like Serena, Luke Gallows and Joey Mercury needed saving from their addictions.

The Nexus was a group of eight NXT rookies who stood together to take the company by storm once Season 1 ended. All the rookies stood together since the beginning and were plotting against the company. All three factions had something in common.

So my fellow readers, do you think TNA is dealing too much with stables?
