Arsenal 2011 (Video Exclusive): Almunia Set to Leave and Vela Decision Imminent

Manuel Almunia looks set to have played his last game for Arsenal after Arsene Wenger admitted the goalkeeper could move in the January transfer window.

The Spaniard's last game in an Arsenal shirt was way back in September in the shocking home defeat against West Brom. Almunia has been sidelined ever since with an ankle injury.

Now it looks as though the 33-year-old will head out of the Emirates.

Wenger conceded, "There is a small chance. Yes, I have had a chat with him, but nothing is decided."

No New Faces

The Arsenal manager is adamant that the exit will not spark a spending spree. Arsenal already have Lukasz Fabianski and Wojciech Szczesny as the two goalkeepers in contention for the No. 1 jersey. Vito Mannone is still on loan at Hull City and Wenger hinted on another promising youngster.

“We have a young Argentinean boy [Emilio Martinez] as well who is very good. We have plenty of goalkeepers, I think a club who works well can produce good goalkeepers.” (Arsenal.com)

Carlos Vela

Vela's proposed loan move to guarantee some match action for the Mexican is gathering pace as a number of clubs throughout Europe have shown interest. Wenger said that by next week, the destination for the Mexican will be clear.

Vela has struggled to break through the Arsenal team, falling behind the likes of Van Persie, Bendtner and Chamakh.

Bolton, who had Jack Wilshere on loan last season, are keen to finalise a deal. The Bolton manager has made an enquiry to Arsenal, and is waiting for a response.

"They said they had taken on board our enquiry and they would give it consideration and said they would come back to us." (DailyMail)

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger has rubbished any suggestions that Arshavin is to leave the Emirates. The Gunners' boss is backing the Russian sensation to bounce back from a dip in form and urges the fans to be patient.

Arsenal go to Upton Park to play West Ham, in what looks to be Avram Grant's last game in charge. Arsenal will want to bounce back from a shocking defeat to Ipswich during the week, whereas Grant will want the perfect farewell.
