NBA 2010-11: Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are the Best Duo in the NBA

Nicholas GossJan 13, 2011

Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are the two best players on the Western Conference's best team, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Thunder beat Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic Thursday night, led by Durant's 36 points and Westbrook's triple double.

The Thunder have gone from a 20-win team to a true championship contender in a year and a half, and Durant and Westbrook are the reasons why.

Durant is an unbelievable scorer and became the NBA's youngest scoring champion ever last season, narrowly beating LeBron James. Durant is the becoming the runaway MVP of the league, even if Chicago's Derrick Rose is having a spectacular season himself.

Westbrook is an amazing talent and possesses a vast amount of skill for a point guard. His rebounding skills are superb for a guard, and his scoring ability is among the league's best among guards as well.

Both of these players are effective because they complement each other's skills so well. Durant and Westbrook can both score in volumes without touching the ball every possession, even if Westbrook has the ball a lot as the point guard.

Westbrook has developed a sense of Durant's whereabouts on the court, similar to the chemistry Boston Celtics stars Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen enjoy.

Westbrook has found the balance between getting his own offense going and doing his primary job of getting his teammates involved and running the offense.

How good can these two be? Durant is already a superstar and Westbrook isn't far behind. The Thunder are a very young, inexperienced team but they play with the unselfishness seen in 10-year veterans.

Durant and Westbrook don't hog the spotlight or demand attention. They are focused on winning, and winning only.

This drive and determination is rare today amongst young stars and this desire to be the best will result in the two of them winning multiple championships together.

The Thunder are a very dangerous team and they are only going to get better. Westbrook and Durant are the best duo in the NBA and, at their young age, have the potential to possibly the best duo in league history.
