Memphis Grizzlies vs Detroit Pistons: Zach Randolph Plows Through the Motor City
The Grizzlies beat the Detroit Pistons in a tough matchup between two scrappy teams.
The final score of 107-99 showed that the Pistons fought hard against the Grizzlies.
Early in the game, the Pistons had the upper hand. With strong play from Ben Gordon, Tracy McGrady and Greg Monroe, the Pistons were primed for a victory.
Whatever happened in the locker room during halftime fueled the Grizzlies to their victory. Winning the third quarter 30-18, the Grizzlies were pesky on the defensive end and Zach Randolph was a man amongst boys.
Zach Randolph finished the game with 34 points and 17 rebounds. Randolph made a living on the foul line and on the boards. The Pistons' smallish defenders were not enough to contain Randolph.
Last week's Western Conference Player of the Week may be in for an encore performance. This season, Zach Randolph may not make the All-Star team, but he has played like an All-Star as of late.
The Grizzlies play their best basketball when playing from the inside to the outside. Many teams cannot match up with Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol is one of the most efficient centers in the NBA.
This is the winning formula that can take the Grizzlies over the hump.
With strong perimeter play from Mike Conley, Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo the Grizzlies are a hard team to contend with when they are hitting on all cylinders.
Rudy Gay may have the maximum contract, but Zach Randolph is the most important player on the Memphis Grizzlies.
Everyone knows when Zach Randolph is focused he is a force to be reckoned with. The Detroit Pistons' big men combined for 13 fouls when trying to guard Randolph. It may have been snowing in the Motor City, but Randolph brought his snow plow and made his mark in the game versus the Pistons.
Randolph has been on a terror—let's hope the Grizzlies continue to feed him the ball.
