Georges St. Pierre's Greatest Moments
Georges St.Pierre is arguably the greatest pound for pound fighter in the mixed martial arts world right now. Only a certain 'Spider' (Anderson Silva) can make you think twice about that statement. The French-Canadian has 21 wins and only 2 losses to his name; a record which shows his dominance at the welterweight level. Let me take you through some of his finest moments and show you how this good fighter...became great...
.V. Thiago Alves

After trimming himself down to GSP's weight, Alves had been used to fighting far bigger and naturally more powerful opponents than Georges. However, both with strikes and on the ground, GSP shown his class by dominating Alves and defeating him after a split decision when the 5 rounds finished.
.V. Dan Hardy

'The Outlaw' Dan Hardy was somewhat of an outsider/underdog in this contest. It is easy to see why as he was completely dominated by Pierre. Full credit and respect goes to Hardy however, as he snuffed a number of Pierre's submission attempts and took the fight to a decision. In the end though, Pierre's take-downs and ground game was too much for the plucky Brit.
.V. BJ Penn

When Penn moved up weights after trashing his division, there was a lot of hype about his fight with GSP. They were both champions, each holding their respective belts. In the end, Georges sheer size and strength difference proved to be too much for the Hawaiian and the fight was called to a halt in Penn's corner at the end of the 4th.
.V. Matt Hughes II

After Hughes caught Georges in an armbar in their first meeting, GSP wanted nothing more than sweet revenge. He got just that 2 years later, when he caught the All-American with a number of effective kicks. The crucial one being a significant shin to the face, which sent Hughes sprawling to the canvas, were GSP moved in for the kill and finished the fight through a brutal barrage of elbows to the face.
.V. Matt Serra II
5 of 6
After his shock loss to Serra on April 7th, 2007, Georges realised that nobody is immortal in the UFC. This only served to enhance his training and mentality as he came back stronger and even more well-rounded for their rematch. This took place in front of a home crowd for Georges in Montreal, Canada. He went on to demolish Serra in what was a complete master class of brutal ground strikes. I'm sure the entire arena could hear Serra's ribs crack as Pierre's Championship-winning knee was driven in. His dream was complete - regaining the Welterweight championship infront of his home crowd.
