Brett Favre Gives the New York Jets a Real Shot
So call it crazy, but I'm not the only one who thinks the Jets have a shot. And I only need to give you one reason—Brett Favre.
For all of you who haven't figured it out, this guy is the best quarterback in the league right now.
Many people would argue for Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, or even his brother Eli, but this guy is a fighter. Not to mention that he's broken every passing record on the face of the planet, including interceptions.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
But tell me one player in the past 16 years, in Green Bay, that has gone anywhere else and done something?
Brett Favre creates not only plays, but players.
Does he get up a little slower? Sure. Does he fire with as much velocity as he did ten years ago? Probably not. But he knows how to win and he holds that record too.
Need I point out the talent in New England that football genius Billy puts on the field? Or the incredible coaching in Indianapolis with Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Joseph Addai, and former defensive player of the year, Bob Sanders?
Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't think that Peyton or Brady aren't good quarterbacks. Both are going to the Hall of Fame. But being a great Quarterback in the National Football League is not just about stats and passer ratings.
Brett Favre has endured countless off-the-field incidents that are common in millions of families across the world. He has stayed when others have retired, been able to learn new systems and get used to new coaches in Mike Sherman, Mike Holmgren, and Mike McCarthy. He's also had to deal with all of the "big time players" leaving for whatever reason. But has he ever complained? Ever?
Okay, he mentioned two sentences about Thompson not going for Randy Moss in Green Bay while at a golf tournament a few years ago. But don't get me started on how Thompson and McCarthy treated the man who literally revived the franchise when he decided he wanted to play again. A decision which I believe was inevitable.
So what do they do? Trade him to New York.
Not to sound like all of the other articles out there, but a superstar with a chip on his shoulder is not good news for anybody. Except, of course, for the team he plays for.
I know that my man is still a little ticked at Green Bay's management for how they treated him. And rightfully so! He'll even leave his resume at the door. Favre is the most talented player to ever play the game and he's going to prove it in New York.
Tell me the last time the New York Jets had a shot at going to the Super Bowl. Mangini's first year?
Brett Favre might not be as athletic as he once was, have the arm strength he once did, but the tricks up his sleeve that he's been using for years will never fail. The list of those goes out the door and all the way back to Green Bay. And he can use them with any team, against any team.
Without Tom Brady, the Patriots are no longer Super Bowl favorites. There is a great team around Brady that can probably win 10 or 11 games, but they won't have the QB that can get them to the Big Game.
Not that the San Diego Chargers are finished, but Shawne Merriman is a bigger missing piece than a lot want to think. LaDainian Tomlinson is the leader of that team, but even he can't do it all.
The Pittsburgh Steelers looked sharp, but I can't see that whole team staying healthy this season.
And the last team on Super Bowl alert would be the Indianapolis Colts. They looked like they had never played professional football against the Chicago Bears. Matt Forte out of Tulane? Peyton Manning can't find the end zone?
Now you might be saying, "Well he's basing all of this on one week of games!"
It is true, but there are only 16 games in an NFL season people! There were a lot of injuries to star players in Week One and one 60-minute game of football can tell you a lot about your team.
Given what the previous favorites had shown in Week One, I'm saying that No. 4 has a legitmate shot at taking home the Lombardi with a bunch of mediocre players like he always has.
And this time with a chip on his shoulder that says, "I think I have this big trophy thing that Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson might want!"
I hope Favre is done being humble and comes out and says it:
"I'm the greatest player alive and I can do it with anyone NFL."
