It's Time for Africa

Finally Africa's moment arrived after narrowly losing to Germany for the 2006 World Cup bid.
The world sang and danced to 'It's time for Africa'.

This was the year when the world came to know about Vuvuzela... of course the football geeks knew about it from the Confederations Cup 2009 onwards but the blowing horn sound truly became a world phenomena in 2010.
After FIFA 2010 the Vuvuzelas can be spotted in every corner of the globe.
España!

Spain joined the elite club of FIFA World Cup Winners.
Vamos was the word of the summer.
Mourinho and Inter Triumph

The self proclaimed "Special One" did it again.
Mourinho did an epic celebration on Camp-Nou pitch after his Inter Milan side produced a defensive masterclass to knockout Barcelona in the Champions League Semi-final.
Inter went on to win the Champions League, defeating Bayern Munich in the Final.
Juventus and Liverpool Fall From Grace

Juventus and Liverpool both had a dismal year.
They were not part of the knockout rounds of Champions League season 2009-10 and then, worse was, they couldn’t qualify for the 2010-11 season after finishing seventh in their leagues. Gerrard and Del Piero, the talisman of their clubs, cut a sorry figure.
Emirates Money in Manchester City

After being pumped with cash from owners belonging to UAE, Manchester City kept themselves associated with rumour mills throughout the calendar.
Only time will tell if their spending spree will fetch them any trophies.
El Clásico Masterclass From Barcelona

Barcelona ripped Real Madrid 5-0 to win the most anticipated El Clásico in years.
Barcelona were simply stunning.This possibly could go down as the worst defeat in Real Madrid football club history.
Russia and Qatar Win Bid

Russia and Qatar won the bidding process to host 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup, respectively.
This tumultuous result led many in the football community to voice their rage against the FIFA administration.
Rooney's Transfer Request

Rooney submitted a transfer request to Manchester United with personal matters dragging him off-colour, but then did a remarkable U-turn and is now well on his way back to becoming a fans' favourite at Old Trafford.
Germany's Young Guns

They humbled the mighty Argentinian and English teams in the World Cup. They have alarmed the rest of the world that they will be definite contenders in 2014.

This game had everything in it: The Good, the bad and the ugly. Uruguay finally won on penalties and Luis Suarez's handball incident took the debate on football ethics to another level.
