College Football's 2011 Recruiting All-Star Team

Edwin WeathersbyDec 21, 2010

The best players in America. That's who we want. The best. We need to field an All-Star team of top high school football players to compete for championships and win football games.

Defensive studs, offensive stars, we need them all. Like a college recruiting coordinator, we've assembled our board and here are the 22 prep stars we're going after to field our team.

CB, Jonathan Rose, Leads (Alabama)

1 of 22

Rose, an Auburn commit, is 6-2 and 170 pounds.

A great athlete, what stands out is Rose's movement skills on his tall frame.

He can match up with any receiver in the country.

CB, Doran Grant, St. Vincent St. Mary's (Ohio)

2 of 22

Grant is a lock down corner and amazing athlete.

Hailing from the same high school as LeBron James, Grant has strength to press and explosiveness to high point throws.

He can hold his own on an island on the perimeter.

S, Karlos Williams, Ridge (Florida)

3 of 22

A big safety at 6-2, 210 pounds, Williams could be used in the box and on the back end.

Versatile, Williams could also move to outside linebacker in college and make plays against the run.

S, Hasean Clinton-Dix, Dr. Phillips (Florida)

4 of 22

Clinton-Dix is a rangy safety who could also serve as a man defender in nickel packages.

6-2, 190 pounds, Clinton-Dix is a smooth athlete with a long frame.

Headed to Alabama, Nick Saban will use him all over the field.

OLB, Tony Steward, Pedro Menendez (Florida)

5 of 22

Steward can man the Sam linebacker spot and cover tight ends with ease.

6-2, 225 pounds, Steward can play over the tight end/strong side on the line of scrimmage and is physical at the point of attack.

He can also play any other linebacker position easily, if need be.

OLB, Brent Calloway, Russelville (Alabama)

6 of 22

A versatile linebacker, Calloway can line up at will make plays from the backside.

With speed, athleticism, and instincts on a 6-1, 220 pound frame, Calloway is a play making defender headed to Alabama.

MLB, Curtis Grant, Hermitage (Virginia)

7 of 22

Grant is a Mike linebacker who excels against the run.

He could also play inside linebacker in a 3-4 defense, as he is physical at the point, read and reacts well, and hits like a truck.

6-3, 225 pounds, Grant can line up the defense and call signals.

DE, Ray Drew, Thomasville County (Gerogia)

8 of 22

Drew has an excellent first step off the snap and a long frame to keep big offensive away from his body.

Drew could be used in the same way as Jason Taylor, he could rush with his hand down or be moved around standing up.

6-5, 245 pounds, he plays with a high motor.

DT, Anthony Johnson, O. Perry Walker (Louisiana)

9 of 22

Johnson is nearly 300 pounds and at 6-4, could play nose tackle or the inside one technique defensive tackle position.

A noted run stuffer, Johnson is surprisingly quick and can collapse the pocket with ease from the interior.

DT, Michael Bennett, Centerville (Ohio)

10 of 22

Bennett has the makings of a great three technique, penetrating defensive tackle.

He has the quickness to split gaps and blow by offensive guards and the strength to power through double teams.

He will make plays in the interior defensive front for Ohio State.

DE, Jadeveon Clowney, South Pointe (South Carolina)

11 of 22

Clowney, the No.1 overall recruit in the country, has been an unstoppable force for South Pointe.

6-6, 250 pounds, he can man the strongside defensive end position, play the run, and blow by helpless offensive tackles when rushing the passer.

He'll also destroy your running back if you dare try to provide chip help in pass protection.

LT, La'El Collins, Redemptorist, (Louisiana)

12 of 22

An incredible athlete for a big man, Collins is a left tackle with great feet.

His has great quickness to get in his set at the snap and the athleticism to slide and mirror pass rushers before they make their move.

He's also athletic enough to fit well into a zone blocking scheme at 6-5, 290 pounds.

LG, Cyrus Kouandjio, DeMatha (Maryland)

13 of 22

From a powerhouse program in DeMatha (Maryland), we'd move Kouandjio to left guard as he has the strength to steer and control defensive linemen and also the athleticism to be used on wide pulls, traps, and pin blocks.

Further, incredibly athletic at his 6-6, 325 pound-frame, Kouandijo can easily be seen playing left tackle at the next level.

Kouandjio and Collins on the left side of the line? A quarterback could do his homework and still have plenty of time in the pocket.

OC, Brian Bobek, Fremd (Illinois)

14 of 22

We like Bobek in the pivot. He has the smarts to set protections and communicates well with his other four linemates.

Bobek is a high motor player who can get on the second level and make blocks on linebackers.

A great technician, Bobek plays with good leverage and strength.

RG, Sedrick Flowers North Shore (Texas)

15 of 22

Flowers, at 6-3 and 280 pounds, has great agility and athleticism. He's an ideal guard in a zone blocking scheme.

He can pull, seal, pin, and trap and is also very strong on his feet.

RT, Christian Westerman, Hamilton (Arizona)

16 of 22

6-5 and 290 pounds Westerman is the prototypical right tackle road grader.

He may be the meanest and nastiest run blocker in the country and is also a solid athlete.

A solid technician with great aim in his hand placement on defenders, Westerman is headed to play for Mack Brown and the Texas Longhorns next year.

TE, Nick O'Leary, Dwyer (Florida)

17 of 22

O'Leary is a match up nightmare. He's 6-4, 230 pounds, runs precise routes, make spectacular catches and also has the speed to make yards after the catch.

A passionate competitor, O'Leary also has he proper tenacity in the run game, as he looks maul anyone in his way as a blocker.

WR, Trey Metoyer, Whitehouse (Texas)

18 of 22

We like our receiver with size, speed, and play making ability. Metoyer fits that bill.

Metoyer, an Oklahoma commit, has all the tools to dominate Big 12 secondaries in the coming years at 6-2, 200 pounds.

Metoyer has been clocked in as low as 4.42 in the 40.

WR, George Farmer, Serra (California)

19 of 22

A force of strength on the perimeter, Farmer is a tremendous athlete with a large catch radius, quickness, deep speed, and quick cut ability.

Farmer recently gave a verbal commit to USC and will look to make an instant impact, as he is perhaps the most college ready polished reciever in this year's class.

RB, Isaiah Crowell, Carver (Georgia)

20 of 22

Crowell is one of the most dynamic runners in this year's class and has all the tools to be an every down back at the next level.

5-11, and 190 pounds, Crowell has good patience, speed, wiggle, and is also a great receiver out of the backfield.

The Peach State back will likely decide between Georgia and Alabama.

RB, Malcolm Brown, Steele (Texas)

21 of 22

Brown is the most complete runner in the country. A big back at 6-0, 220 pounds, Brown has strength to spare.

He runs with great speed, power, tenacity, and has great vision and feel for blocks.

Look for him to get early carries at Texas next year.

QB, Teddy Bridgewater, Northwestern (Florida)

22 of 22

The quarterback has to be cool, calm and collective. He also needs to be able to manage the game AND egos.

Bridgewater has experience in both, as he has played with great talent in his huddle at Northwestern high school in Miami, Florida.

6-3, and 185 pounds, the Louisville commit is a tremendous leader and gamer who makes plays when they matter most.
