Kansas Jayhawks: Josh Selby Shines In College Debut
After being unnecessarily hit with NCAA rule violations, fines and a nine-game suspension, Josh Selby took the floor at Allen Fieldhouse in front of more than 16,000 screaming fans.
While Selby served his suspension, Kansas fans patiently waited for the debut of their school's most heralded freshman and chanted "Free Selby! Free Selby!".
Free at last.

After just four minutes into the game, Jayhawks head coach Bill Self called on the young stud as Selby's mother watched from the stands teary-eyed.
Selby got hot early, nailing two three-pointers and receiving a ton of praise from color commentator and former coach Bob Knight. Selby also spotted up for another three from the corner and was fouled. He drained all three from the charity stride.
“I wasn’t really worried about my individual (statistics),” said Selby. “I was focused on my team.”
Selby finished the game with 21 points, including a go-ahead three-pointer with under a minute to go to give his team a one-point lead. Kansas eventually defeated Southern California, 70-68.
“It was wonderful just to be out there playing along with my teammates, playing for the fans and the coaches,” said Selby. “It was a great environment.”
After such ridiculous turmoil to begin his college career, it's good to finally see Selby taking the hardwood and displaying his talents.
“They said mom was crying when they ran out for pre-shooting before the warmups,” Self said. “But their family’s been through a lot. She’s done a remarkable job. This was a special day for them.”
Special indeed. Selby continues to respectfully represent the DMV.
