5-Star CBB Prospect A.J. Williams Reclassifies to 2027 Class Amid Interest From Duke, UNC, More

Five-star prospect A.J. Williams has reclassified from the men's high school basketball class of 2028 to 2027, per comments made to ESPN's Paul Biancardi.

"I put in the hard work, and felt ready to accelerate the process," Williams told Biancardi. "I saw this summer, when I moved up to 17U, that I was ready to play with the 2027's and was one of the best in their class too."

The 6'8", 210-pound wing is now fourth on the 247Sports Composite list of top class of 2027 recruits.

The Eagle's Landing Christian Academy (McDonough, Georgia) product has 27 offers, per 247Sports, including ones from Duke, UNC and UConn.

Per Biancardi, Williams has nine schools on his list: Duke, UNC, Auburn, BYU, UConn, Georgia, Illinois, Georgia Tech and Mississippi State. The next step is scheduling official visits this fall.

Williams has enjoyed a sensational run of success, which has only served to boost his standing among his peers. Biancardi provided more information.

"In 2025, Williams won a gold medal with Team USA at the FIBA AmeriCup, and also won the 15U Nike EYBL Peach Jam with Georgia Stars," Biancardi wrote.

"The summer performances set him up to take over the No. 1 spot in the 2028 class last August, a position he held—until now."

He only got better in 2026, excelling at the famed Peach Jam tournament with CP3 in the 17U division. Per official stats, Williams averaged 23.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks in just 27 minutes per game.

Ultimately, the future appears bright for Williams, who now has just one year of high school ball left.
