Aaron Donald Works Out for Rams During Training Camp amid Latest Rumors on NFL Comeback

Aaron Donald worked out for the Los Angeles Rams in training camp on Wednesday as the former star defensive tackle considers coming out of retirement, via ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The 35-year-old hasn't played in the NFL since the 2023 season, but rumors regarding a possible comeback have surrounded him this summer.

After the Rams acquired star pass-rusher Myles Garrett in a June 2 swap with the Cleveland Browns, Donald told ESPN's Pat McAfee that the trade caused him to start thinking about returning to his former team.

Donald was later spotted going through individual drills at Los Angeles' facilities, via TMZ Sports.

On July 16, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Donald "does not really know himself" if he'll end his retirement and planned to get in football shape throughout the coming weeks before making a decision.

Rams head coach Sean McVay recently provided an encouraging update regarding the three-time Defensive Player of the Year.

"There won't be any news on that front until we get back to Woodland Hills," McVay said Friday, per ESPN's Sarah Barshop. "We've loosely had some different timelines that are kind of temporary. I want to keep those between us just if something unforeseen happens, out of respect for him and the situation. But I know this: Things are going in the right direction. And if there's an arrow, it's trending upwards."

Expectations are already high for the Rams heading into their 2026 campaign, as they added Garrett and star cornerback Trent McDuffie to a squad that advanced to the NFC Championship Game last season.

The potential return of Donald would undoubtedly provide a boost to Los Angeles' championship hopes as well.

While he's been retired for multiple years, he remained productive during his last NFL season in 2023. In 16 games, Donald racked up 53 tackles, 23 quarterback hits, 16 tackles for loss and eight sacks.
