Top 10 Worst NFL Offseason/Preseason Moves
With the season starting, I couldn’t help but think of all the moves, or lack of moves, certain coaches and GMs made in the offseason and preseason that made me wonder what they were thinking?
Here are my top-10 worst offseason/preseason moves.
10. Instead of suspending Steve Smith for hurting Ken Lucas, maybe the Panthers' coach and GM should suspend themselves for hurting their own team.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
I get the fact that the Panthers are sending a message to Steve Smith that nobody is above the team. But the team could have dealt it with differently by heavily fining him. Playing two games without your best playmaker isn’t smart.
One loss can be the difference between making the playoffs or not. Instead of worrying about Steve Smith’s behavior, maybe the coach and general manager should be worrying about keeping their jobs.
9. Make up you’re mind Cincinnati.
Either Chris Henry is or isn't too much of a troublemaker to be on the Bengals. All of sudden, now that the Bengals are thin at receiver, he’s no longer too much trouble. Be consistent, or the players won’t know what to believe anymore.
8. Can anyone actually name the Titans wide receivers?
Getting a tight end is one thing, but how can you expect Vince Young to improve if he has one of the worst wide-receiving corps in the league.
7. Is Matt Ryan going to be the next Tim Couch or David Carr?
Why didn’t the Falcons get a veteran quarterback to play until Matt Ryan is ready? Rushing a rookie quarterback, who is supposed to be the face of your franchise, is never a good idea; especially if the team has offensive line problems.
Quarterbacks who sit for a while, like Carson Palmer, have generally done better. The Falcons better hope Ryan doesn’t turn into another David Carr or Tim Couch.
6. The Chiefs only addressed their offensive line problems by adding two rookies.
The Chiefs' offensive line was atrocious last year, as they lead the league in sacks allowed. Only adding a first-round rookie guard to play tackle, and a sixth-round rookie tackle isn’t going to fix their offensive line problems.
5. Aren’t coaches suppose to give their full support to their starting quarterbacks?
After taking way too long to announce Kurt Warner as the starter, Coach Whisenhunt had the nerve to imply that Warner is going to be evaluated week by week, and that Leinart will probably play this season.
4. Chad Pennington? I thought the Dolphins were rebuilding?
If the Dolphins are going to get rid of all their veterans in the offseason, than why did they bring one in to play the most important position on the field?
If they weren’t happy with their quarterback situation, they should have drafted one in the first round or acquired a young quarterback they believe in.
3. Why did the Raiders overpay for certain players?
First they signed Tommy Kelly to the largest contract ever given to a defensive tackle, even though he played defensive end last season. Then they gave injury-prone receiver Javon Walker a $55 million deal.
Then they signed Justin Fargas to a $12 million deal, even though they were planning on drafting McFadden anyway. I think AL Davis is starting to lose his mind.
2. Apparently Aaron Rodgers is a better choice than three-time MVP Brett Favre.
As an NFL GM, your job is to try to get the best players on the field. Everyone knows that Favre is a better choice than Aaron Rodgers. The Packers are not a rebuilding team, so why unnecessarily start rebuilding the team’s most important position? Besides that, Favre has earned the right to come out of his semi-retirement if he wants to.
1. The Bears' GM must be really optimistic.
How could the Bears GM have allowed their team to go into another season with the same unproductive quarterbacks on their roster?
Did anyone really care who was going to win the starting quarterback battle between Orton and Grossman? Either way, the team’s in trouble.
