50 Meanest Wrestlers in History

Joe M.Dec 8, 2010

Here we go, the 50 Meanest Wrestlers in history.  There will be some current wrestlers and some old-timers.  Some of them will seem obvious, while others may not.

These are in no real specific order, but once we get to the Top 10, those are the meanest of them all.  Read through and feel free to comment or send me an e-mail at joe@wrestleslam.com.

Sheamus

1 of 50

The first wrestler on the list has only been around for a little over one year.  In that year, he's had two WWE Championship reigns and feuds with some of the biggest names in WWE.

The Iron Shiek

2 of 50

The Iron Sheik is definitely one of the meanest wrestlers in the history of the sport.  Nothing quite got on the fans' nerves like The Iron Sheik talking about his home country of Iran.

He's also accomplished everything you can in the WWE.  He's a former WWF Champion, WWF Tag Team Champion, and he's a WWE Hall of Famer.

Ted DiBiase Sr.

3 of 50

Ted DiBiase Sr. would come out every night and show off his wealth to the WWE fans, which needless to say made him one of the most hated wrestlers of his day.

Jake "The Snake" Roberts

4 of 50

Not many things are meaner than beating your opponent and then feeding him to your pet snake.

Mad Dog Vachon

5 of 50

Mad Dog was just inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2010, and he was inducted for a reason.  He is hands-down one of the meanest wrestlers of all time.

Abdullah The Butcher

6 of 50

Abdullah was one big, mean guy.  He is by far one of the most hardcore wrestlers of all time, and just about every match he was in ended with the ring canvas being completely red.

Rick Rude

7 of 50

Rick Rude was one of the most cocky and stuck-up wrestlers ever, and the fans absolutely hated everything about him.

The Honky Tonk Man

8 of 50

For a guy who dressed like a cheap Elvis and was never seen without his guitar, he was pretty mean.

Arn Anderson

9 of 50

He appears sometimes on WWE TV and seems like a nice enough guy, but during his prime, he was one of the most hated heels in all of pro wrestling.

Tully Blanchard

10 of 50

Arn Anderson's tag team partner, Tully, was also a very hated heel.

Harley Race

11 of 50

Harley Race is one of the most successful wrestlers of all time, and in his prime was truly hated by the fans.

Edge

12 of 50

He may be a face now, but majority of Edge's success came as a heel.

He's a former WWE, World Heavyweight, Tag Team, United States and Intercontinental Champion and a future Hall of Famer.

That means in addition to being one of the meanest wrestlers of all time, he is also one of the most successful.

Roddy Piper

13 of 50

Roddy Piper was one of the greatest heels in wrestling history, and you don't become one of the best heels without being pretty mean.

Vince McMahon

14 of 50

Ever since he debuted the evil boss "Mr. McMahon" character, Vince has been one of the meanest and most hated people in all of pro wrestling.

You may be thinking he's not a wrestler, but he's stepped in the ring from time to time.  After all, he is a former WWF Champion and a Royal Rumble winner.

Mr. Perfect

15 of 50

Mr. Perfect would come out every night and tell everyone why he was simply better than them.

He became one of the most hated heels in wrestling at the time.

CM Punk

16 of 50

The Straight Edge Superstar ranks on this list because there is no doubt he can be pretty mean in the ring.

From cutting promos and telling the fans they are drugged, drunken drones to screwing The Undertaker out of the World Heavyweight Championship.

Sgt. Slaughter

17 of 50

While he spent some of his career as a face, when he was a heel, Sgt. Slaughter was absolutely hated by the fans.

After all whats meaner than a crazy, anti-American drill sergeant?

Sting

18 of 50

The guy walks around with a baseball bat.  Enough said.

Randy Savage

19 of 50

While he has played both, there is common opinion is that Savage was much better as a heel.

With that voice, it didn't take much to act tough, and mean at that.

Nick Bockwinkel

20 of 50

Arguably one of the great heels of all time, Nick Bockwinkel of course ranks on the 50 Meanest Wrestlers list.

Buddy Rogers

21 of 50

Before Ric Flair was even born, Buddy Rogers was the "Nature Boy."

Randy Orton

22 of 50

He may be a face now, but not too long ago he was WWE's top heel, and he did a great job at it.

He may still be an active wrestler, but Orton will go down as one of the greatest heels ever.

Bob Orton

23 of 50

Randy Orton's father, Bob Orton, was also one of the best heels in his day.

What's meaner than wearing an unnecessary cast just to beat people with it?

Eddie Guerrero

24 of 50

"Mean" was practically Eddie's gimmick.  His motto was "Lie, Cheat, and Steal." He was a great wrestler, but also played one of the meanest characters in WWE history.

Scott Hall

25 of 50

Some people prefer him as Scott Hall, other like him more as Razor Ramon, some others may have even preferred him as Starship Coyote in NWA.

No matter who he was, he was a mean guy, just look at that picture.  Does that look like someone you'd like to meet?

Vader

26 of 50

Vader was just a big, mean, large guy.  Again, just look at the picture.

Something tells me I wouldn't like running into him on the street.

Bam Bam Bigelow

27 of 50

Don't mistake him with Bamm-Bamm Rubble.  If you do, the real Bam Bam may just kill you.

Junkyard Dog

28 of 50

He may have been a face, but he pulled off a unique gimmick, and it was no doubt a mean one.

Awesome Kong

29 of 50

She is the only female wrestler on this list simply because she is one of the only wrestlers (female or male) who can legitimately scare little children.

Mr. Anderson

30 of 50

Mr. Anderson is one of the best talkers in pro wrestling today.  That said, his heel promos are exactly how a heel promo should be: very, very mean.

The Miz

31 of 50

The Miz is a mean guy.  Whether it is him talking or wrestling, all of his tactics are underhanded.

Mark Henry

32 of 50

Some guys just have that "mean" look.  Mark Henry is one of those guys.

Michael Cole

33 of 50

Screwing Jerry Lawler out of the WWE Championship earned Cole a spot on this list.

Carlito

34 of 50

He may not be a legend, or even very popular, but he is definitely a mean wrestler.  After all, his trademark move is spitting a chewed-up apple into someone's face.

Wade Barrett

35 of 50

He's the leader of the meanest stable WWE has seen in recent history.  That's more than enough to get a spot on this list.

Triple H

36 of 50

He may be a fan favorite now, but he wasn't always like this.  During his heel days, Triple H was pretty mean.

Brian Pillman

37 of 50

The Loose Cannon Brian Pillman easily makes the meanest wrestler ever list.

He may not have always been a heel, but for god's sake, the guy had a gun (and quite a vocabulary of four-letter words).

William Regal

38 of 50

William Regal is simply a tough guy.  And toughness and meanness go hand-in-hand.

Finlay

39 of 50

Much like William Regal, Finlay was simply a tough guy.  Finlay, however, was a tough guy with a shillelagh (and a midget).

Brock Lesnar

40 of 50

This article is titled "The 50 Meanest Wrestlers in History".  Brock Lesnar has a giant knife tattooed on his chest; that's pretty mean.

During his WWE tenure, he definitely turned quite a few heads with his intensity also.

Kane

41 of 50

Do I even need to explain why Kane is on this list?  He is hands down one of the meanest pro wrestlers ever.

The Undertaker

42 of 50

Right after Kane is The Undertaker.  The one person in WWE creepier and meaner than the Big Red Machine.

Mick Foley

43 of 50

Mick Foley is one of the most hardcore wrestlers of all-time.  There is no one other wrestler who has done what Foley has done inside a wrestling ring.

But this isn't a hardcore list, it's a "meanest" list.  Hitting people with barbed wire, putting them through flaming tables, and throwing them onto thumbtacks isn't exactly "kind."

The Rock

44 of 50

The Rock is one of the most successful wrestlers of all-time.  Along with a select few others, he led the WWE through the Attitude Era.  He also coined a few phrases that wouldn't exactly fly in the PG Era.

Shawn Michaels

45 of 50

While his final run in WWE was spent as a super-face who received literally no boos at all, back in the '90s Michaels definitely had quite the cocky, stuck-up, mean side.

Ric Flair

46 of 50

How can Ric Flair be left out of a list counting down the meanest wrestlers in history?

He is called The Dirtiest Player in the Game.  He also had quite in edge.

Chris Jericho

47 of 50

Chris Jericho is a natural heel.  No one can really get under the fans' skin like he can.  That earns him a nice spot on this list.

Hulk Hogan

48 of 50

Not the '80s Hogan as much as the WCW, NWO Hogan.  He is one of the best wrestlers ever, and that, combined with his mic-skills and his time as a heel, gets Hulk a spot on this list.

Bret Hart

49 of 50

Bret Hart spent some time as a heel, and while he was always a better babyface he had a mean side.

We eve saw a mean side come out for real after he was screwed in 1997, but then again, that would make anyone angry.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin

50 of 50

While this list hasn't been in any order, there is no doubt Stone Cold gets in the No. 1 spot.

What can possible be meaner than stunning someone and pouring beer all over them?
Flipping them off, then stunning them and pouring beer all over them.

There is no doubt at all that Stone Cold is the meanest wrestler of all-time, period.
