The 10 Worst MMA Movies Ever Made
MMA, or concepts similar to MMA, has been in movies for years. Every year, there are movies that come out that feature some unsanctioned, underground fighting ring which bears a strong resemblance to a good old-fashioned MMA brawl.
Even more recently, some of the biggest MMA stars in the world have been starring in these kinds of movies, or movies that don't have anything to do with MMA but has them kicking a lot of butt.
More often than not, these movies are terrible and should not be seen by anyone. The people that have would like to get their time back. Here are the 10 worst MMA movies ever.
*To note, these are either movies that have an MMA theme or they star an MMA fighter.
The Scorpion King 2: Rise Of A Warrior

Who would have thought that a sequel to a mediocre film could be a bad idea?
Not an MMA film, but it does star one of the biggest stars in the history of MMA in Randy Couture. Couture stars as the main villain, Sargon. He kills the father of Mathayus, a young warrior driven to revenge when his father is killed by Couture. As he goes on his quest for vengeance, he slowly becomes the most skilled and most feared warrior in the world. Cinematic gold.

Channing Tatum as a hardcore fighter? What's not to love?
He is a street hustler who gets mugged by a powerful ticket scalper (Terrence Howard), goes to confront him and is then offered a chance at a winner-take-all tournament. Don't forget the obligatory love interest who hates Tatum because he tried to sell her a bogus Harry Potter book.
Bloodsport

Jean Claude Van Damme is a master at making awful, cheesy films and this is one of his very best. In defense of the film, the fight scenes are pretty cool and Van Damme does put on a display of martial-arts. One of the cheesiest scenes of all time takes place when Van Damme is blinded by Chong Li. He has to center himself in order to get his sight back and miraculously win the final fight.
Never Back Down

Jake is the new guy in town and wants to get close to the hottie-mchot-hot girl. He goes to a party that she is having and gets viciously sucked into a fight with the "school's fighting champion." The bully, Ryan, beats him soundly. A classmate, Max, takes a liking to him and they become best friends. Then, Ryan wants to fight Jake again but Jake is against it, so Ryan beats the heck out of Max and it motivates Jake to get in there and take his revenge. Masterful storytelling.
The Quest

JCVD's second appearance on the list, it is basically a redux of Bloodsport, only not as compelling. JCVD is a street thug in 1920's New York and helps children by stealing money. He is caught and forced to work for bad people. He is sold into slavery, where he becomes a world-class fighter. Then the bad people from the beginning buy JCVD's freedom so that he can compete in a fighting tournament for them.
Never Surrender

Putting actual MMA fighters in a movie about MMA does not make the movie any better. This movie features a lot of top UFC fighters, like BJ Penn, GSP, Anderson Silva, Heath Herring, and Rampage Jackson. The story is mundane, an actual MMA champion is caught in a web of deceit, fighting in an illegal underground cage fighting ring. Lionsgate, for some reason, felt the need to bring this film into the world. Thanks, guys.
Redbelt

Probably the best film on the list, for whatever that's worth. A guy's dojo needs money, they can get a loan for money if the guy is able to win a big fight. His friend kills himself and Mike is devastated, but has to continue on. He fights and wins the Redbelt. I could go in more detail, but it's not really worth it.
Shootfighter

When a movie has the tagline "It'll tear your hear out," you know that you are in for a treat.
Here is the synopsis from Rottentomatoes.com: Nick and Ruben are hoodwinked into a "shootfighter" (no-holds-barred, to the death) martial arts match by the evil Mr. Lee, who has a grudge against world shootfighter champ (and teacher of Nick and Ruben) Shingo. Does anything else really need to be said? I think the most shocking thing is that there was actually a sequel made to this called Shootfighter 2: Kill Or Be Killed.
Kickboxer

At some point it just becomes picking on Van Damme, but c'mon, he does bring it on himself. JCVD plays a guy who is a corner man for his brother. They travel to Thailand to fight the world's best. Eric, JCVD's brother, gets into the fight and is outmatched. He won't quit and as a result he is paralyzed. Van Damme vows revenge, and guess what...he gets it. The end.
Supreme Champion

There is almost nothing on this film, no entry on Rotten Tomatoes or Wikipedia. I won't pretend to have seen this film, but after watching the trailer, I believe it more than merits its inclusion on this list. If you want to see it, here is the link:
