Kansas City Chiefs, Dwayne Bowe Beat Down Seattle Seahawks To Stay Atop AFC West
The AFC West-leading Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the NFC West leading Seattle Seahawks at Qwest Field Sunday afternoon in a critically important game for both. They each held a tenuous grip atop their respective divisions. Going into the week, the Chiefs, at 6-4, held a one game lead over the Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers, while the Seahawks, at 5-5, were up by one over the St. Louis Rams.
The first quarter ended 7-7, with the Chiefs scoring four minutes into the game on a Matt Cassel pass to Dwayne Bowe and the Seahawks answering, blocking a Kansas City punt and running it in for a touchdown. That was as close as Seattle would get for the remainder of the game as Kansas City, and Dwayne Bowe, in particular, put on an offensive show.

The Chiefs would score twice more in the second quarter, once on a one-yard run by reported-eligible defensive end Shaun Smith and again on a touchdown to Bowe. Seattle eked out a field goal with two seconds left in the half.
The Seahawks tried keeping it close, coming within four, 21-17, when they scored on the opening drive of the second half—a touchdown pass from Matt Hasselbeck to tight end Chris Baker.
The Chiefs failed to score in the third, but pulled away, far away, in the fourth. They outscored the Seahawks 21-7 in the final quarter on a Jamaal Charles touchdown run and two TD passes—one to Bowe for his third of the game and one to tight end Tony Moeaki. Dwayne Bowe finished with 170 yards receiving. Seattle's only bright spot in the fourth was an 87-yard bomb to a wide-open Ben Obomanu for a desperate score.
The Chiefs won 42-24, staying ahead of the charging San Diego Chargers who trounced the Indianapolis Colts Sunday night. They also gained a game on the Oakland Raiders, who fell to the Miami Dolphins.
The Seahawks, on the other hand, have found themselves in a tie for first with the St. Louis Rams, who beat the Denver Broncos at Mile High Stadium.
