Oakland Raiders Can Stifle the Miami Dolphins and Get a 6+ Win Record In 2010

You can say what you want, but there are so many records that can be broken this year. As I looked at the data for the Oakland Raiders from 2000 to 2010, I see that they have not exceeded five wins in seven years during the regular season.

In the period from 2002 to 2009, the total wins per season was five or less. It looks like this:

2004 Five

2005 Four

2006 Two

2007 Four

2008 Five

2009 Five

2010 Five to date

The Oakland Raiders exceeded the total wins per season of Miami in the following years: 2000 and 2002.

Here is a chart of total wins per regular season that is somewhat revealing:

It looks like the Miami Dolphins have won 84 games during the regular seasons since 2000. On the other hand, the Oakland Raiders have won 67 games.

It is the recent performance that seems to give the Oakland Raiders an advantage, once the outlier of the loss to the Steelers is removed from the data set. Why would I do that? The answer is that the behaviors during the Steelers game were not the typical ones of the revived Oakland Raiders, so I am erasing that data from my Excel files.

Of course, if the Oakland Raiders let us down and "fiddle around" again, the data will be put back into the database. Interesting, huh?

The "after bye week" behavior was awful. I am building up a permanent dislike for "bye week" based on my research.

Focusing on the future, it can certainly be a reasonable expectation of a win-loss record with more than six wins.  I would be happy with a 8-8 or a 9-7. Is that too much to ask for? No, I don't think so,
