NFL Picks Week 12: Rating the Likelihood of Upset in Every Game This Weekend
Thanksgiving has come and gone and so have three of the weekend's match ups. If you missed them you didn't miss much.
The Patriots blew out the Lions with 21 fourth quarter points, the Saints squeaked out a win over the Cowboys in a game that saw a new low from wide receiver Roy Williams, and the Jets shut down the Bengals in route to a 16 point win.
All the favorites won on Thursday, so there has to be some upsets brewing this weekend right?
As always, the NFL is anything but predictable, but here we examine the upset likelihood of the remaining 13 match ups this weekend.
No. 13) Titans Over Texans
1 of 13
This divisional game in Houston is the least likely game of the weekend to produce an upset.
The Titans are on the road, but they are 5-5, while the Texans sit at 4-6. However if the Titans were to lose, it wouldn't be an upset considering they have already lost three straight games.
Texans should win at home, hardly an upset.
No. 12) Chiefs Over Seahawks
2 of 13
Kansas City is favored slightly in this match up however their woeful 1-4 road record doesn't give them an edge in my mind.
The Seahawks are 5-5 and should win this game at home to take control of the NFC West.
No. 11) Dolphins Over Raiders
3 of 13
This might just be the most even game of the weekend. No team is favored, but the Raiders get the edge playing at home.
Both teams are coming off of embarrassing losses, both are 5-5, and while the Raiders are 4-1 at home, the Dolphins are 4-1 on the road.
Good luck seeing an upset here.
No. 10) Cardinals Over 49ers
4 of 13
If there is such thing as upsetting a 3-7 opponent at home, this game could produce just that.
Both teams are 3-7, however the Cardinals are losers of five straight games while the 49ers, win-less on the road, are favored slightly in this game.
No. 9) Vikings Over Redskins
5 of 13
The Redskins are 5-5 and at home while the Vikings are 3-7 and facing a storm of dysfunction.
A Minnesota win would no doubt be an upset, however they don't seem fit to pull it off on the road, where they are 0-5.
No. 8) Bills Over Steelers
6 of 13
This would be the biggest upset of the weekend by far if it were to happen, but unfortunately for Bills fans, it probably won't.
The Steelers are coming off of a dominating win last week and are trying to keep pace in the AFC, any chance of an upset should be put to bed early Sunday afternoon.
No. 7) Bears Over Eagles
7 of 13
The Bears will have the next chance to clip the Eagles at home this Sunday.
If anyone can put pressure on Michael Vick it's Julius Peppers and the Chicago defense. Both squads are 7-3 and leading their divisions, but an upset isn't out of the question here.
No. 6) Rams Over Broncos
8 of 13
The Rams are in Denver to take on the Broncos this Sunday, both teams are still alive in their divisions but the Broncos' season seems all but over at 3-7.
Denver's defense hasn't slowed anyone and the Rams could easily come away with an upset at Mile High.
No. 5) Panthers Over Browns
9 of 13
That's right, a 1-9 team has a good chance to upset a 3-7 team this weekend.
The Panthers, win-less on the road and just about everywhere else, are in Cleveland to battle the Browns.
Cleveland has played the league's best tough, with wins over the Saints and Patriots, but Carolina showed some promise, though very little, against the Ravens last week.
An upset is likely.
No. 4) Chargers Over Colts
10 of 13
The Chargers are in Indianapolis Sunday night for Sunday Night Football and have a very good chance of beating up the banged up Colts even more.
The Colts are favored at home, and San Diego is 1-4 on the road, but the Chargers are also winners of three straight games while the Colts are losers of two out of their last three.
No. 3) Buccaneers Over Ravens
11 of 13
The Bucs are in Baltimore to take on the Ravens this weekend, and though it's a battle of two 7-3 teams, it feels hardly like a good match up.
Tampa Bay has beat up on the league's worst, but the Ravens have shown some kinks in the armour, an upset here more than possible.
No. 2) Jaguars Over Giants
12 of 13
The favored Giants have lost two straight and are home to the surging Jags this weekend.
Jacksonville is 6-4 and leading the AFC South, while New York is 6-4 and trailing Philadelphia in the NFC East.
The Giants defense has been roughed up as of late and if Eli Manning continues to turn the ball over on Sunday, the Jaguars will pull off the upset.
No. 1) Packers Over Falcons
13 of 13
One of the weekend's best games is the most likely to produce an upset.
The Packers are in Atlanta to take on the NFC's hottest team, the Falcons. Atlanta is 8-2 and sports the conference's best record.
Green Bay is 7-3, and has won four straight games, outscoring it's opponents 40-3 on the road in that time.
The Packers want to take control of the NFC North, however an upset win on Sunday would likely give them control of the entire NFC.
