Top Five Topics of Conversation for So Very Clever Guy's Girls—Week 12
Wow, things are really heating up, and right now, Cam Newton’s rear end must feel like he is sitting on top of a wood-burning stove (for you Southerners—this is not a comfortable place to be). Other than Cam, there are tons of things for So Very Clever Guy’s Girls to brush up on so she can be poised and ready
to converse intelligently with the guys with weekend.

Who Will Remain Undefeated This Week? Three of Four Are on a Bye
1 of 5
Three of the four undefeated teams are on a bye (break), Boise State plays Fresno tonight, so by tomorrow, we will know all four undefeated teams will enter Week 13 with an unblemished record.
You’d have to go back to 1970 to find four teams that finished with perfect seasons—so it is not as common as a So Very Clever Guy’s Girl might think. Don’t hesitate to say, “Gosh, what are the chances of four teams going undefeated in a season?”
You will expose yourself a total researching fraud if you spit out the names: Dartmouth, Toledo, Arizona State and Arkansas State, saying, “Hasn’t it been like 25 or more years?”
Always ask and stay AWAY from sayings like “Did you know?” or “Do you know why?" The first one says I know the answer and I think you don’t, and the second has the potential to embarrass the dude who will never know the answer to this. The last thing Clever Girls want to do is embarrass the men in their lives—or heck, anyone in their lives.
TCU Is a Lock for a Perfect Season. Who Else Can Secure One?
2 of 5
On that note, the one team guaranteed to have a perfect season is TCU; they handily put the challenges behind them and have one game left. TCU will play New Mexico State next and is what you can call a “gimme” for TCU. A So Very Clever Girl might say, “So, theoretically, TCU is the only team who is guaranteed a perfect season this year.”
Auburn still has to take on rival Alabama, and this wildly unpredictable match-up is not a guaranteed win for Auburn. You also have to take into account the stress the Auburn football program has to be under with the investigation and potential disaster looming for Cam Newton and Auburn. As Erin Hogan (ESPN Radio) said yesterday, “I don’t have a smoking gun, but I’ve got lots and lots of smoke billowing out of Auburn.”
Who Will Take the Iron Bowl
3 of 5
Oregon still has to surmount Arizona, and Boise State needs to leap a powerful Nevada team. Like I said, no gimmies for any undefeateds except TCU.
Here is some Clever information for you, ladies. This grudge match is considered one of the most exciting in college football history. The teams have met 75 times, and in the beginning, the games were played in Birmingham, Ala., earning the rivalry the title “Iron Bowl.”
Auburn has only won 33 of the 75 matchups, so when I say despite the efficiency with which Auburn has discarded opponents this year, this is a rivalry and emotion figures prominently in any rivalry.
Who in the Big Ten Will Remain One Down?
4 of 5
What is going on in the Big Ten?
Well, we have three teams with one loss—Wisconsin, Ohio State and Michigan State.
Who will still be undefeated on Sunday? All of them.
Michigan will likely get their rear ends handed to them by Wisconsin, Ohio State will defeat Iowa (though they have been wildly unpredictable this year) and Purdue will serve as no match for Michigan State.
I say that and…
Cam Newton Puts Up a Mushroom Cloud of Suspicion
5 of 5
Cam Newton is still the Heisman front runner despite the mushroom cloud of suspicion and scandal forming above him. What is going to happen? Well, from the looks of things, Cam’s dad is going to throw himself under the bus to save his son—but will it? Probably. Someone needs to fall for this and, frankly, I don’t find $180,000 worth jail time and potentially damaging my son’s career.
However, I say that and Michael Vick is out of prison and playing in the NFL again—the fans won’t forget what he did, but the money grubbing owners will forgive and forget if you can put up some Ws.
The real question here is Auburn—will they go down in this? I imagine there are some pretty tense conversations going on between Team Newton and whoever ultimately forked over the payment to the Newton family. Who was it? I have no idea, but I can guarantee it will never be traced back to Auburn. Their hands will be clean at the end of the day. This was likely a cash transaction by a booster or an alum. Do I think Auburn was involved? Hmmm. How about implied consent and “don’t ask, don’t tell?”
