Liverpool Special: 5 Players That Will Change The Reds' Fortunes Forever

KabeeR JoshiNov 18, 2010

It no longer requires a brainstorm to see that Liverpool football club needs new players. Quality players. Players who are a massive upgrade to what the club has at the moment. Players with technical abilities, genius play on the field, a sustainable good form and who are least prone to injuries.

Let's be honest and accept that when it's time to find quality players, money does matter. A player valued around £5 Million to £7 Million will not be that good as the player who may cost double than that or more.

However John Henry has sent a hammer blow by keeping faith in Roy Hodgson. It will also be debatable whether these players (who are world class talents) will be able to play to their full potential under the dire management and clueless tactics of current Liverpool manager.

Here is a list of five players that Liverpool need to purchase to transmigrate their fortunes and challenge for the Premiership and in Europe in 2011-12 season.

1. Sergio Aguero: The Argentine and Atletico Madrid Striker

Replacement for: David Ngog (£6M), Dirk Kuyt (£10M)

Approximate Cost: £30M

Net Cost: £14M

The 22 years old Atletico Madrid striker is already well-known to the football world for his early exposure to first division football. At this age he has played seven years of professional club football and four years with Argentina national team. An eye-opening experience for a 22-year-old.

Aguero has always scored more than 20 goals in all of his past three seasons with Atletico Madrid.

Fernando Torres has played with Aguero for one season and he would not ask for anything more than Aguero partnering him at Anfield. Aguero has provided at least 10 assists in each of his past seasons, which means Torres would get a massive help too.

Diego Maradona's son-in-law is a prolific goal scorer as well as a great dribbler. His thunderous strikes from the edge of the penalty box and free kicks accuracy are considered as few of the weapons he possesses.

The street football lover Argentine would make a devastating pair with Torres. This pair can tear apart any stubborn defense line the Premier League teams have for years to come.

2. Eden Hazard: The Belgian Right Winger/Playmaker

Replacement for: Maxi Rodriguez (£8M)

Approximate cost: £13M

Net Cost: £5M

The 19-year-old Belgian winger plays for French Ligue one outfit Lille. The technically gifted youngster is a regular in Lille for two years now and has played over 20 national games for Belgium.

Hazard is mostly known for his creativity and speed down the right flank.

In 2009-10 season Hazard had scored 10 goals and provided nine assists. In the current season he has already scored four goals, which makes him a very potential prospect.

Bearing in mind he is merely 19 years of age, with right nurture he has all the qualities Comolli is looking for in a "young and exciting" players profile.

His playing style is said to be a mix of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Arsenal's Arsene Wenger is thought to be his greatest admirer and has been trying to pry him away from Lille.

3. Arda Turan: The Gifted Turkish Left Winger

Replacement for: Milan Jovanovic (£7M)

Approximate Cost: £12M

Net Cost: £5M

There are hardly any Liverpool fans who are not craving for this 22-year-old Turkish delight to see at Anfield. The European footballer of 2009 has a gifted talent of playing with both the feet and on both the flanks of the pitch.

Turan has been playing for Turkish club Galatasaray since he started playing football. This ideal left winger, any teams would love to have, is famous for his threatening runs through the defenders and assisting with deadly accurate crosses.

2009-10 season saw Turan scoring 11 goals and a massive 25 assists for Gala. The eye-catching fact of the winger is that he scores in a very crucial games at the right time. In Euro 2008 he scored all of his four goals which saw Turkey into the semi-finals.

His dream of playing for Liverpool is well-documented and Liverpool fans are waiting to see Turan wearing the red shirt.

Another of Arsene Wenger's spotted talent will make Liverpool's left wing secured for many years.

4. Miguel Veloso: The Portuguese Defensive Midfielder

Veloso: Will not make Liverpool miss Alonso

Replacement for: Christian Poulsen (£4M)

Approximate cost: £12M

Net cost: £8M

The 24 years old holding midfielder currently plays for Genoa FC.

Liverpool and Roy Hodgson should replace Lucas and Poulsen with Veloso.

Veloso has a playing style similar to that of Xabi Alonso. He mainly operates in pinging the balls around in midfield. Veloso sits back and dictates the pace of the game like Alonso but has a better speed and scoring temperament.

Although a DM, Veloso has scored 11 goals for Sporting C.P. (his previous club) in 41 appearances in 2009-10 season.

The Portuguese midfielder was ranked within the likes of Mascherano but his injuries have not helped him to get there yet.

Arguably a better player than Blaise Matuidi for Liverpool who will not disappoint his international team mate Raul Meireles in midfield and will form a wall for the back four in Liverpool defense.

5. Fabio Coentrao: The Benfica Left-Back

Replacement for: Fabio Aurelio (£5M)

Approximate Cost: £20M

Net Cost: £15M

Another Portuguese, 22 years of age, plays as a left back for Benfica.

Highly rated left wing back is very talented and well known for long range shots specially the one against Sporting Lisbon in Portuguese Cup.

His speed, quick wing play and ability to go past his men have bought him much praise. He was one of the Portugal's best world cup performer in 2010 FIFA World Cup.

His World Cup performances have led Man Utd and Chelsea enquiring about him and Benfica will be looking to capitalise a big fee for his talents.

How Liverpool Will Look?

The purchase of these players will lead to a rejuvenated, attacking Liverpool squad and formation.

Suddenly the Anfield club will have quality starting eleven AND the depth in squad which will make them an intimidating team to play against.

This newly formed Liverpool will be scary enough to send chills down the opponents when they take on the likes of Man Utd and Chelsea in the Premier League and Inter or Barcelona in Europe.

There will be no doubts that these influx of young players will make Liverpool competing for the top honours for many years and will certainly bring back the the Premier League trophy, their bread and butter, back to Anfield which has been missing for over 20 years now.

This is my point of view.

However, I would like to see what you think about the players, the quality, possible alternatives, to what I am trying to suggest here. You can reflect your thoughts in the comments below.
