UFC 123: Rampage Jackson Vs Lyoto Machida: Who Will Bounce Back

James EvensNov 17, 2010

At UFC 123, Rampage Jackson will face Lyoto Machida in what is sure to be a lightweight fight to remember.

Both Jackson and Machida are coming off  tough losses in their last fights.

Jackson lost to rival Rashad Evens by decision at UFC 114 in his return to the octagon. The loss was tough on Jackson and he is looking to fight back against Machida in what will surely be an epic battle.

Meanwhile, Machida is coming off a loss as well.  In his fight at UFC 114, he lost for the first time in his professional career to Mauricio Rua, in the main event of the night.  He was knocked out by Rua and is looking to make a comeback facing Jackson.

This fight will be one to forget.

Let's face it, Rampage Jackson was good for a long time, but he is now on the downward slope of his career and has been for a while. Machida just suffered his first lost, but he still has time to recover and is young enough to make another run at the title.

Machida should straight up manhandle Jackson in this one.  Don't be suprised if this fight doesn't even make it into the second round, because Machida is by far the better fighter right now.  His ability to win fights in every single different way imaginable, will just propel Machida to the top of an aging Jackson.

Rampage should take the hint: after this fight, he should retire. But we all know that he won't because his ego is too big.

UFC president Dana White would not want him to retire either because he will still draw crowds and make money for the promotion.

No disrespect to Jackson, but his time on the top of this weight-class is in the past, and he won't be back on top in the future.

Look for Machida to bounce back and begin another streak as he looks to regain the title.
