WWE Survivor Series: 10 Burning Questions Heading into Sunday Night Pay-Per-View
On Sunday, WWE Survivor Series takes place once again. Some of the greatest and most landscape-altering moments have taken place at Survivor Series. This year's event does not look like it will disappoint either. Buzz has been surrounding the event for weeks and questions are popping up left and right.
Here are just some of the burning questions that wrestling fans are wondering about leading up to this Sunday.
What Will John Cena Do?
1 of 10
The most popular question, bar none.
I could do without hearing the term "Free or Fired" 6,000 more times, but it is, indeed, a very big deal.
Since we can all agree that John Cena will never be fired from the WWE, one has to believe that Cena will be freed from Nexus and Wade Barrett will be the new WWE Champion.
However, this will greatly damage Cena's stellar legacy and would likely hint toward the heel turn that everyone has been dreaming of for a while.
Let's just hope that Orton won't win, leading to Cena being fired, only for him to be brought back in some lame way. It would take one of the better storylines in recent memory and destroy the legitimacy of it.
Will Edge Defeat Kane?
2 of 10
Finally, a title match at a pay-per-view for Edge where he isn't sharing the spotlight. While the build-up for this match was very light and thrown together, due to The Undertaker being injured, it has panned out rather well.
Not since his match with Chris Jericho at WrestleMania has Edge had a one-on-one world title opportunity at a pay-per-view. With a possible 10th world championship on the horizon, can The Ultimate Opportunist take advantage of the opportunity?
Meanwhile, Kane will be champion for 126 days, tying the reign for King Booker and Batista for the fifth-longest in the history of WWE's World Heavyweight Championship. Only Batista (282), Triple H (280), Chris Benoit (154) and The Undertaker (140) have held the belt for longer in a single reign. Has Kane hit his limit in potentially his last run in the main event?
Why Give Santino and Kozlov PPV Time?
3 of 10
We all know that the tag team division is in bad shape, but come on. Vladamir Kozlov and Santino Marella?
Are we really supposed to expect either of these two men as champions right now? We know that Santino has held the Intercontinental Championship on multiple occasions, but there isn't even much chemistry between these two during tag team matches.
Considering that they refused to give a championship to Kozlov when he was a monster heel, why give him gold (or bronze, because they are the tag team pennies) when he is a comic relief babyface?
Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel will not lose their belts at Survivor Series to these clowns, but I am more disappointed that this match is even taking place. Slater and Gabriel should have been in another match, which I'll explain later.
Will There Really Be Only One Suvivor Series Match?
4 of 10
This is the picture of the only Survivor Series match this Sunday.
Smackdown puts together the lone glimpse of the tradition of this event as Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio lead their respective teams.
Kofi Kingston, MVP, Big Show and Chris Masters (I'm not kidding you. He's seriously on a pay-per-view card again) are on Team Mysterio. "Dashing" Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, Tyler Reks and Jack Swagger are on Team Del Rio.
Let's not even talk about how, due to Del Rio's behavior, the fact that he even leads a team into a match is an oxymoron. We won't even mention how I had no clue that this match even was happening until RAW went old school Monday night.
With four men from RAW on the shelf currently (CM Punk, Skip Sheffield, Evan Bourne, Triple H), wouldn't it be important to try and showcase the superstars on that show and try to fill the void? There are a few names I can think of...
Why Doesn't Nexus All Get on the Card?
5 of 10
Minus Cena and Barrett, there are five of them.
HELLO, WWE CREATIVE! WAKE UP!
I thought that the reason for Michael McGilli...Mr. Perfect's son and Husky Harris joining Nexus was to get their numbers up and create an entire Survivor Series team.
Instead of the tag team match, Gabriel and Slater could have been thrown into a five-on-five match along with the rest of Nexus. That could easily be your RAW Traditional Survivor Series match.
I'll do you one better and give you their potential opponents: Ezekiel Jackson, R-Truth, Yoshi Tatsu, Darren Young and Daniel Bryan. It has enough of a blend of people with ties to Nexus, while also giving some people something to do. Don't laugh at it; did you see that Chris Masters is on the card already?
Besides, we know that Nexus would be booked to win anyway.
What Purpose Will Morrison/Sheamus Have?
6 of 10
These types of matches are always so hard to read. Sometimes they are created just to keep people occupied. Other times, this match is used as a place for something random and exciting to happen. Even still, this rivalry would be better suited to have them on either side of a Survivor Series match, just like many that have come before them. They wouldn't have to be captains or anything, but placing them all by themselves with nothing really on the line just sounds wasteful.
Can Natalya Win the Divas Championship?
7 of 10
I'm actually getting a little tired of seeing Natalya not win the championship. It doesn't make me want to keep watching the feud. It just makes me hate the Divas division that much more.
A friend of mine has watched every episode of RAW for the last few months, along with the past few pay-per-views. While she loves to side with the babyfaces, her hatred for Lay-Cool is up there with that of Nexus. The main reason: she has only seen them win twice in about the last two months or so. Let's just end this, end Lay-Cool, and try to strengthen what we have left of women's wrestling in this company.
Where Are Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler?
8 of 10
While we don't need to have mid-card title matches at every pay-per-view, it's certainly strange to not see Dolph Ziggler or Daniel Bryan on the card anywhere.
Even if they weren't champions, they are two of the best young wrestlers in the company. While I made a case for where Daniel Bryan could have popped up on the card, Ziggler's newest challenger, MVP, is already on the card. MVP lost his opportunity against Ziggler in controversial fashion, which seemed to have led to a rematch at some point. I guess not...
Which Man Will Be the Next To Get Pushed?
9 of 10
You can all see who my pick is in that question.
Last year saw The Miz, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus stand tall as survivors from their Survivor Series match. The Miz was already United States Champion. The other two would become champions at the next pay-per-view. McIntyre would be the new Intercontinental Champion while Sheamus shocked the world and won the WWE Championship.
This time around, it may be time for The Dashing One to step up and have his best showing as a singles competitor yet.
Will Miz Tease Cashing In Again?
10 of 10
We have heard the murmurs for months. It even got a mention on RAW this past Monday. When will The Miz cash in his briefcase for a shot at the WWE Championship?
Personally speaking, The Miz should wait until the TLC pay-per-view next month. Regardless of whatever match takes place then, the champion will likely be in a bad state. If the briefcase is still being carried around into 2011, Elimination Chamber in February will have a similar situation.
