Is Donovan McNabb's Five-Year, $78 Million Deal Worst Contract in NFL History?
Donovan McNabb is going to be 34 this month, was benched against the Detroit Lions in favor of Rex Grossman, and has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns this year.
He should also be the happiest man in the entire league.
According to ESPN, The Redskins and quarterback Donovan McNabb have agreed to a five-year, $78M extension that could be worth up to $88M with incentives.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Are you kidding me?
Yes, I'm a McNabb fan, and yes he's been a great quarterback and had a great career, however that career seems to be quickly coming to an end.
Following a trade to the Washington Redskins from the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, McNabb has been somewhat of a disappointment.
While the total yardage remains impressive, McNabb has thrown for only seven touchdowns compared to eight interceptions. His QB rating of 76 is his lowest since the 2003-2004 season.
He has recently been referred to as "out of shape" by Redskins coach Mike Shanahan, and was benched for Rex Grossman during a two-minute drill situtation that saw Grossman fumble the game away.
Despite all of this, and an average 4-4 record, the Skins have awarded McNabb with $78 million, with a chance to earn an additional $10 million with incentives.
Yikes. Now I wish my parents would have pushed me to throw a little bit more in the backyard.
Tom Brady's new deal pays him $18 million annually. Peyton Manning is almost certain to get $20 million a year with his next contract.
While both deals will pay more than McNabb's average of $15.6 mil, you could argue they deserve it.
Donovan has successfully topped 25 touchdowns one time in his career. While he led the Eagles to numerous NFC title games, he has zero rings to show for it.
Durability is also a question, with McNabb often spending more time shooting Chunky Soup commercials than calling plays. In 11 full seasons Donovan has played all 16 games a total of only four times.
Is McNabb worth the money next year if he leads the Redskins to a playoff berth? Sure.
The year after that if they make a run at an NFC title? Absolutely.
In five years when he's 39 coming off multiple surgeries and carrying a 240-pound frame on bad knees?
You be the judge.
