Floyd Mayweather Still Has Excuses and Facts To Prove Manny Pacquiao Unworthy
For every spirited argument, there is always one word that you want hear. A word that signifies a conceding defeat. Like waving a white flag.
That word is "whatever."
You will often hear the word "whatever" when the person has nothing else to say—no more rebuttals—and chooses to believe what he or she believes, with the knowledge that it is a belief that has no logical backing behind it.
Well, to all those Pacquiao fans, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and all his fans have no reason to say "whatever" yet. Not by a long shot.
I am one who would love to see Pacquiao achieve something to finally stump Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Something to finally eliminate any annoying rebuttal he may have. Something he cannot argue out of and make him finally do something. Either fight Manny Pacquiao or just admit that he is ducking him.
Unfortunately, Pacquiao's recent dominance of Antonio Margarito did not contribute to this cause.
Mayweather Jr. still has a lot of excuses and justifications (however weak they may be).
He still has a lot of facts to state his case. And facts are facts. Those are inarguable.
Let's start with Pacquiao's latest achievement.
Mayweather Jr. can still shrug this off as a nothing. Especially since Mayweather Jr. recently dominated Shane Mosely, who defeated Margarito by TKO. Something that Pacquiao was not able to do.
You can argue all you want about this, with different reasons, and logical explanations.
But can you really alter the fact? Can you tell Floyd that is not true? That's the only answer that would matter to him.
You can always bring up the fact that all Floyd had to do was sign the contract. Yes, that is a fact.
But here is where Floyd is a genius. He comes up saying that he never was in any negotiations.
Now, we can all stand by the fact that there were negotiations. But can anyone prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Floyd was involved in any of these negotiations? You can say his people were. But so what? You have to prove that Floyd was directly involved. All we can do about this is speculate.
Floyd can still give us the annoying excuse that he has nothing to prove against Manny and that Pacquiao has yet to prove that he is a worthy opponent for him.
He can still say he beat Hatton and De La Hoya before Manny did.
He can still claim that the only reason Pacquiao wins is because of catch weights.
He can still say that he easily toyed with Juan Manuel Marquez, whereas you can still dispute the results of Pacquiao's fights against him.
These are all indisputable facts.
Is he ducking Pacquiao? The answer to this question is all about how you want to perceive the situation. It depends on who you ask. And that is the problem.
At this point Floyd can retire knowing he can hide behind these facts and conclude that he has nothing else to prove.
And sadly, he can also hide behind a fact that he has something that Manny Pacquiao can never achieve: an undefeated record.
