UFC 122 Fight Card: Odds and Predictions for Every Fight

Adam WellsNov 8, 2010

UFC 122 will air this Saturday from Oberhausen, Germany. The main event matchup between Nate Marquardt vs. Yushin Okami will be a very interesting fight because it is a No. 1 contender fight.

Marquardt has been in UFC for over five years and has had one title fight in that time, an overwhelming loss to Anderson Silva, now this could be his last chance to stay in championship contention.

Okami is looking to elevate his game into the championship stratosphere. He has been a solid fighter his entire career, but has never been able to really take that next step.

Here are the odds and predictions for every fight from UFC 122.

Nate Marquardt vs. Yushin Okami

1 of 5

ODDS: Marquardt -200, Okami +175

Nate Marquardt is the better fighter of the two. He has beaten (slightly) better competition than Okami has in the past. Plus, he knows that this is likely his last chance to get any shot at the middleweight championship and he will likely ride his adrenaline to a victory over Okami.

If Okami can keep the fight upright he can hang with Marquardt because his best bet is to try and knock him out. His punching is much better than his submission game so it will be key for Okami to stay upright and dictate the pace of the fight. If he can do that, he will get the victory.

Prediction: Marquardt wins via submission in the second round.

Jorge Rivera vs. Alessio Sakara

2 of 5

This one is going to be a puncher's fight. Both guy's specialty lies in their ability to land punches and knock their opponent out. Whichever guy can land the decisive blow will be the victor in this middleweight clash.

Prediction: I look for the younger Sakara to be able to outlast Jorge Rivera and bring his winning streak to four in a row.

Dennis Siver vs. Andre Winner

3 of 5

This is a difficult fight to forecast because both fighters appear to have the stamina to make it all three rounds. Plus, neither guy is really a knockout specialist to say the least.

If the fight doesn't go to the judges' table I would give the advantage to Dennis Siver who has shown he has more of a submission game then does Winner. One thing is for sure; both guys will try and get the fight to the ground.

Prediction: Siver gets a decision victory over Winner.

Amir Sadollah vs. Peter Sobotta

4 of 5

Amir Sadollah will make just his sixth professional fight. He has shown that he has some stamina given that his last three fights have all gone to a decision. Aside from some good kicking ability, which he displayed against Phil Baroni and Brad Blackburn, he hasn't shown a whole lot else.

Peter Sobotta has shown a better array of punching and submission techniques than Sadollah, but has lost his last two fights via decision. Sobotta will look to attack Sadollah and use his punches to get him on the ground where he can attack with submission maneuvers.

Prediction: Peter Sobotta wins via submission.

Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Goran Reljic

5 of 5

Krzysztof Soszynski is a submission fighter who will use his punching game to be able to take his opponent down where he can attack. His "finisher," if you want to call it that, is the Kimura armlock as he has used that to get four of his career victories including three in a row at one point.

Goran Reljic is a similar fighter to Soszynski in that he likes to work the arm to get his victories. He is returning to the light heavyweight division where he was undefeated at 8-0 in his MMA career. Reljic is a good fighter who tried to drop down a weight class. Look to see if he can get back to where he was before the drop in weight class.

Prediction: Reljic wins a close contest with an armbar submission.
