UFC: Chris Lytle Vs. Carlos Condit Possible for February?

Dale De SouzaNov 4, 2010

Looks like The Natural Born Killer will meet "Mr. Fight of The Night" after all.

Fanhouse MMA reports that a welterweight title bout between Chris "Lights Out" Lytle and former WEC Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit may be possible for sometime in February.

Now we here at Bleacher Report MMA would like to make it clear, as Junkie did earlier this afternoon. This bout is scheduled to happen in February and it will likely feature Lytle facing Condit in a welterweight bout.

This bout WILL NOT, however, see any action on the UFC 126 card, as confirmed by Condit's manager Malki Kawa via Twitter.

While the event isn't known yet, fans can expect this to be an all-out war from the first bit of trash talk before fight time, until the closing seconds of the third round.

Considering how well both men fare on the feet and on the ground, this fight may play out exactly as Lytle's last fight, a UFC 119 rematch of the welterweight final of The Ultimate Fighter 4: The Comeback against Matt "The Terror" Serra.

In other words, as devastating as Condit proved himself to be on his feet against Dan Hardy at UFC 120, cardio and overall conditioning may play a role in this fight and it could also be the difference in this fight.

Of course, Lytle's losses in the sport have been to some of the most solid competition in the game, but you should note, that neither Joe Riggs or Thiago Alves was able to finish Lytle with one solid KO punch.

In his fights against both of the aforementioned, a cut stopped Lytle from continuing the match.

Additionally, his loss to Serra and the one that followed against Matt Hughes, were against two well-schooled welterweights with some solid ground game. Serra's Jiu-Jitsu and Hughes' Wrestling, specifically, were just better than what Lytle brought with him on those nights.

That said, he lost to Serra before anyone could say he was a former welterweight Champion and he dropped a decision to Nick Diaz long before EliteXC was even conceived.

Even still, he'll have one hell of a challenger on his hand when he and Condit meet up in February.
