Georgia Football: Aaron Murray Will Bounce Back After Showing Against Florida
Let’s face it, the loss to Florida hurts.
Georgia made enough plays to stay in the game all the way to the end, but they made too many mistakes during the game and it came back to bite them when it mattered.
The Bulldogs made four mistakes and they were all caused by Aaron Murray. He threw three interceptions and lost one fumble during the game, and those four turnovers led to 17 points for the Gators.
So the question many Georgia fans may be asking is if there is now a reason to be concerned about Murray due to him having four turnovers in one game, which is the most in his young career.
It’s obvious there is no reason to be concerned about Murray throwing three interceptions in the game against Florida and here are a few reasons why.
First, despite the mistakes the freshman quarterback made in the game, Murray did not have a bad outing last Saturday. He was able to lead the Bulldogs to 21 fourth quarter points and finish the day with three touchdowns with a career-high 313 yards.
He may have started off slow, missing his first five passes of the game, but when he was able to settle down and put the early mistakes behind him, he was very effective.
Another reason fans should not have to worry is that Murray is young and mistakes are going to happen. Going into the game against Florida, Murray had three only interceptions on the season and only threw one in the previous three games.
Murray was due for a game where he was going to throw multiple interceptions, but he was able to bounce back from it with the fourth quarter rally.
The last reason fans don’t have to worry is two of the interceptions he threw weren’t all his fault.
The first pick he threw in the Florida game was on the first play of the game, when Murray threw a quick pass to A.J. Green and was picked off by Janoris Jenkins. It was not a bad decision by Murray to throw the ball to Green, the ball was just thrown late and it’s something Murray will learn from after watching film.
The second pick he threw came in the second quarter where the ball went through the hands of Aaron White and picked off by Will Hill, which led to a Florida touchdown. That play was more on White because Murray threw the ball right where it needed to be, White could not come up with the catch.
So with all that said, Murray could have played better against Florida and realizes he can’t make those types of mistakes again if they want to finish the season strong.
Their last three games are against Idaho State, Auburn and Georgia Tech, so Murray will have an opportunity to show the Florida game is behind him.
Murray is having an outstanding season and with the bulldogs having to win out in order to reach a bowl game, Murray will do everything he can to have this team playing in mid-late December.
