UEFA Champions League Matchday 4 Preview, Group H: November 3, 2010

Shakhtar Donetsk vs Arsenal

Donetsk have got a fight on their hands, the points would go a long way to helping them qualify, the problem is that they don’t hold a candle to Arsenal, at least when the away side are playing well. Odds are if nothing else they will manage to score a consolation goal as they are pretty good at scoring at home in the Champions League. The bonus to the two teams scoring quite prolifically is that this might turn into an interesting match.

Arsenal are still missing half of their first string players including Fabregas. The "Gunners" are having a lot of problems with injuries this season and in the last few weeks it has started to show, despite the return of a few key players. Arsenal have a very good chance of winning this time round assuming that they manage to play at the same standard away as they did at home. The "Gunners" have an insanely good run racking up 14 goals in the three matches they’ve played so far in the group, so this should go their way.

Partizan vs Braga

Partizan have had a pretty bleak set of performances. They’ve lost every match in the Champions League and there is the fact that they have only managed to score one goal since the start of the group stages. The Serbian champions are 6th points adrift of second place Donetsk and with their competition unlikely to take any points from their fixture a win here could just about put them back in the running, the odds aren’t favourable, but stranger things have happened.

Partizan Belgrade will be feeling the pressure in this match and nothing short of a win will do, unfortunately for them Braga are in the same boat when it comes to the need for points, so this could be an aggressively fought match.

Braga have been leaking goals and if they stay this sloppy at the back they will really find this match difficult. They haven’t exactly been very good going forward although comparatively that is not a major issue. It will be hard to pick a winner in this, but it does seem that the home side have a slight edge in the fact that whilst they have lost all their matches they still look like a more convincing side on the whole.
