UEFA Champions League Matchday 4 Preview, Group C: Nov. 2, 2010
Bursaspor vs. Manchester United
Bursaspor may have lost the last match, but it wasn’t quite the horrific defeat that many people would’ve predicted prior to the game.
The home side do have a pretty good chance at managing to bag a draw from this game. It is unlikely that they will take away all three points, and anything less probably won't cut it if they hope to progress.
But picking up a point would go a long way to salvaging a little bit of pride; Bursaspor haven’t picked up a single point from the group stages and they will be eager not to let things stay that way.
They have lost their last seven European matches without even scoring; if they know what’s good for them they’ll play for the draw.
On the other hand, if they go all out with the attack to try and stay in the competition then they could face a heavy defeat by leaving too many gaps at the back.
Man Utd aren’t doing quite as well as they were expecting to domestically, and their players have been making the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
United are expected to rest some key players, and this match might look like a bit of a lazy performance from the side as they are expected to breeze through it.
Valencia vs. Rangers
Both sides had disappointing draws last weekend. Valencia only managed to draw with bottom of the league Real Zaragoza, and Rangers had a poor draw against Inverness.
On the bright side for the home team, they should see the return of Miguel and Joaquin, which should help them play more like their normal selves.
They looked a little out of character on the weekend and maybe it was due to the absentees, but their brilliant start to the season has been slowly slipping away from them over the last few weeks.
A win here would see Valencia move up to the second spot and this match could be vitally important for both sides if they are looking to keep their qualification prospects alive.
Rangers have a surprisingly good chance of winning this match. Away from home or not, they have proven they can compete in the Champions League despite many people’s criticisms about Scottish teams.
Edu is 50/50 to play and will be facing a late fitness test to assess whether he will be able to make it.
Weiss is also in doubt when it comes to fitness, although it does look hopeful. Rangers should come away from this with at least one point.
