Manny Pacquiao Could Either Force Margarito To Quit Or Knock Him Down Inside 9
Manny Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach seems to be overly confident his ward will demolish Antonio Margarito despite the Mexican's huge physical advantage over the Filipino boxer.
Less than a week after his arrival from the US to personally supervise Pacquiao's month-long training in preparation for the November 13 duel with Margarito at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Roach first predicted the Mexican boxer will go down inside nine rounds.
Yesterday, he said Margarito won't last and will quit the match just like what Erik Morales did when he quit in the 10th round of his second fight and in the third round of his third fight with Pacquiao.
Roach predictions could be part of his psychological warfare which is his trade mark strategy in heating up the senses of Pacquiao's opponents.
This is not part of a psywar, he assured.
“I can tell this to his face: I bet you will quit,” said Roach.
Roach must have carefully examined Margarito's style and his ability to deal with exceptional opponents like Pacquiao.
“He’s so slow. They better improve on something. But I can’t say this is an easy fight. I don’t want Manny to think that way,” he said.
But Roach sees a possibility of a very short bout. If Manny catches him with his left hand power punch like what happened when he demolished Hatton in the second round of their last fight in Las Vegas in 2008 , it will be a short- lived fight.
During his last session with Pacquiao before facing Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico, Roach was very strict with his schedules as he frowned on politicians who wanted to seek audience with Pacquiao during the training sessions.
Roach knew that Pacquiao was facing a formidable opponent in Cotto as he had high regard for the ability and skill of the Puerto Rican boxing idol.
But surprisingly Roach is not complaining as he trains Pacquiao for the upcoming match with Margarito, who is much bigger and taller than the Filipino boxer.
Roach is not even complaining about the delayed training schedule in Baguio City which was already postponed twice due to Pacquiao's social obligations and commitments as a neophyte congressman.
Roach said he is not worried about the guy and definitely not losing sleep over the 5'11" fighter who once demolished Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand in July 2008.
Is Freddie Roach over confident? Or is he just engaging Margarito in strategic psywar?
