Kevin Kolb: From NFL Starter for Eagles To Trade Rumor in Two Days
The Philadelphia Eagles have been fielding calls from several NFL teams that are interested in trading for Kevin Kolb. A team official said "we have had calls," to confirm that the rumors are true. Andy Reid had this to say about the issue, "Listen, I can't predict anything down that far, nobody in this league can do that."
Can you imagine what is going through Kevin Kolb's head right now? After the Eagles win on Sunday against the Detroit Lions, Andy Reid stayed loyal to his original starter, saying that Kolb was the starter of his team. Then, on Tuesday, after watching games take on Michael Vick, the Eagles coach decided to name Vick his starter for now. One day later he doesn't know if he will make it through the season with the Eagles.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
There was literally no question in anyone's mind this off-season about who the Eagles starter was. Unfortunately for Kolb, one play could change the direction of his entire life. Based on Andy Reid's comments above, it doesn't sound like he is too sure that Kolb won't be traded. For a man who is quick to jump the gun and has a recent history of staying very loyal to Kolb when under pressure to answer questions about him, he sure isn't trying to convince anyone that Kolb will remain on the team.
Now, I criticized Reid for naming Kolb his starter immediately following Vick's performance on Sunday, but now I'll criticize him for not sticking up for him in this situation. I obviously believe Vick should be the starter for now, but I'm not yet willing to declare Vick the long-term quarterback just yet. He hasn't had tough enough competition to determine that yet. Beating the Lions secondary can't lead to a "sell the farm" mentality when it comes to Kolb.
Reid should have taken a stand for Kolb and declared that he will remain with the Eagles. Based on the fact that he didn't leads me to believe that the Eagles are seriously considering trying to fill some holes on the team by selling Kolb while he is in high demand. That's the wrong decision for the future of the Eagles.
Mike Kafka, an unproven rookie from Northwestern is currently third on the depth chart. It would be a huge mistake to trade away Kolb, becoming super thin at quarterback with Vick as the staple. I know they would sign a free agent, but whoever they sign won't be a viable starting option, which Kolb is.
Time will tell how this saga plays out. If one thing is for certain it is that this quarterback circus in Philadelphia didn't end yesterday.
