Georgia To Make Run For SEC East These Next Five Games

Jukabiea BarlowSep 21, 2010

Heading into week four of the regular season, the Georgia bulldogs have a record of 1-2, 0-2 in the SEC. This weeks game against Mississippi State is pivotal as both teams are playing for their first conference win of the 2010 season. With Georgia’s early struggles, some fans already see this season as a failure and the possibility of a bowl birth slim at best. While history isn’t on Georgia’s side for making the SEC championship game with a 0-2 conference record, their schedule certainly is. The Georgia Bulldogs will be favored in their next five contests and there is no reason why they should lose any of these games. Here is a look at the Bulldogs next five opponents:

9/25/2010—The Bulldogs travel to Starkville Ms to face an extremely obnoxious crowd with the other bulldogs from the SEC. The cowbells should be the only problem UGA faces as Miss St still has QB issues.

10/02/2010—Georgia stays on the road this week as they head to Colorado to play the Buffs. In five years with the Buffaloes, Dan Hawkins is 18-34 and on his last straw as their coach. California destroyed the Buffaloes 52-7; expect the dawgs to put up similar numbers.

10/09/2010,10/16/2010—Georgia’s next two games feature the teams from Tennessee starting off with the Volunteers, and then ending with the Commodores of Vanderbilt.  Though Derek Dooley is making his mark on the Tennessee program early, the challenge of going on the road first against LSU then Georgia, will prove too much for this young team. The Vanderbilt game should feature plenty of pressure on the commodores QB as they have a brand new offensive line. Expect the defense to be dominant in this game.

10/23/2010—This next game is most certainly the trap game of the year for the Dawgs. Georgia travels to the bluegrass state to face Randall Cobb and the Kentucky Wildcats. The dawgs should have revenge on their mind after the disappointing loss in Sanford Stadium last year. Why a trap game? Georgia could get caught looking at the Gators, even with a bye week to prepare.

Both Florida and South Carolina’s schedules are brutal and these next five games are the time UGA needs to get their act together for one final run at the East Crown. Lose anyone of these games before the showdown in Jacksonville and the bulldogs can certainly kiss that goodbye, but until then, don’t count Georgia out.
