Five Disappointing Things The Bulldogs Need To Overcome

Jukabiea BarlowSep 19, 2010

Heading into week four of the regular season, it is obvious the bulldogs have a lot of work to do before they are even considered a threat amongst SEC teams. While most of the bulldog nation is trying to decide whether Mark Richt is on the hot seat or not, there are five things that must change for the bulldogs to get back to their winning ways.

A.J. Green Is NOT an Excuse

This won’t take long. We all are well aware of the A.J. Green situation and the penalty he’s faced. The choice to sell his jersey was dumb and his teammates are paying the consequences. Although his presence is missed, the excuse of losing due to him not being on the field is bogus and needs to be shutdown. The play calling should not suffer just because one man is absent.

Bacarri Rambo: Cover Someone Please

2 of 5

For those of you who have watched all three games and noticed the porous play of the secondary, look no further than Bacarri Rambo. From UL Lafayette, to the gamecocks and again with this Arkansas game, most (not all) of the blown defensive assignments show Bacarri not picking up his man. He completely ignores his assignments and needs to stop bickering on the field and learn how to play a receiver. Take away those wide-open touchdowns then you might have a victory out of these last two games.

The Offensive Line Is Just That, Offensive!!!

3 of 5

Again, not much to say here, as the obvious is in front on your eyes when you watch the bulldog’s play. No push up front, inconsistent blocking for the runners and no protection for Murray. This was supposed to be a strong point in the offense this season; it has become an epic failure.

Washaun Ealey Needs To Be Sat Down

COLUMBIA, SC - SEPTEMBER 11: Tailback Washaun Ealey #3 of the Georgia Bulldogs runs with the ball during the game against the South Carolina Gamecocks at Williams-Brice Stadium on September 11, 2010 in Columbia, South Carolina. The Gamecocks beat the Bull

It’s good to see a bulldog with a little fire in his gut, someone who will ignite emotion and energy through the team. What’s not good is a fire to the point of constantly being in the middle of a skirmish on the field and blowing major assignments that could have drastic impacts of the outcome of the game. Yes, Washaun Ealey you are the one to blame for this. Your attitude brings an uncomfortable fire to the field. You always seem to be in someone’s facemask talking trash and pushing someone. Your fumble and missed block should be enough to shut you up. You are not Knowshon Moreno, he let his talking show through his performance on the field, not his mouth. It's a shame Caleb King isn't healthy, Washaun needs some time off to think about his role on this team.

BOBO OMG!!!!!

5 of 5

It’s obvious that A.J. Green is the key to Mike Bobo’s offensive scheme. Forget utilizing tight ends, or the multitude of receivers Georgia has. Don’t mention the fact that Murray can use his feat a little bit. What does Bobo do? Keeps Murray in the pocket, and uses no vertical play calling amongst the rest of the receivers. Well with the exception of Durham that is. Instead of that same old drop back play action (that has no affect if the defense is expecting a pass anyway) why not put Murray in shotgun and let him use his feet and vision to make a play. This is what made him a highly rated QB coming out of HS. What’s becoming more and more clear is that Bobo doesn’t know how to utilize the talents of his QB and Richt had better get more of a hand in the play calling quickly instead of just attending the quarterback meetings during the week.
