Cowboys, Colts and Jets Look For First Wins in Week 2
Well, we survived Week 1 and even posted a record above .500 . This week the Cowboys try to make amends to their fan base (pay attention Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett), the Jets look for offense (I would look to special teams), and the Colts look for defense (check the airport). Alright, enough jabbering. Here are my Week 2 picks:
Pittsburgh at Tennessee
1 of 16
Pittsburgh's defense looked good against the Falcons. But then again what defense doesn't? Chris Johnson and VY picked up where they left off last season. Week 2 won't be as easy for the Titans but they still get the win. I'll take the Titans.
Miami at Minnesota
2 of 16
I'm not sure where Miami or Minnesota were the first week. Maybe they were stuck in an airport terminal with the Indianapolis Colts defense. Luckily for Miami they played the Bills. They won't have the same fortune this week. Brett Favre and the rest of the Vikings make an appearance in this week's matchup. I'll take the Vikings.
Arizona at Atlanta
3 of 16
This could either be a yawner or both teams could score in the 40s. Neither team was very impressive in the first week. Just for shiggles I’ll take the Falcons.
Baltimore at Cincinnati
4 of 16
Baltimore’s defense looked stellar in Week 1 (although they did play Mark Sanchez). Cincinnati didn’t resemble the Cincinnati of 2009. However, I do believe they'll put together a better performance this week and eke out a win against the Ravens. I’ll take the Bengals at home.
Kansas City at Cleveland
5 of 16
Kansas City may be one of those teams I don’t pick right all year long. I like to call teams like the Chiefs Jekyll and Hyde (it can’t be my fault, right?). However, I do believe they go to Cleveland and come away 2-0. I’ll take the Chiefs.
Chicago at Dallas
6 of 16
After last week’s performance I would love to pick against Dallas just because. But I believe that entire locker room is ticked off and DeMarcus Ware seems to be fine. I’ll take the Cowboys at home.
Philadelphia at Detroit
7 of 16
Who will quarterback for Philly this week? I don’t think it matters. The one guy who would matter is in Washington now. I don’t think Ndamukong Suh is neutralized this week. Last week he registered one sack (when he forced Jay Cutler out of bounds to negative yardage), one tackle and two quarterback hits. I think he makes his presence felt again. Even without Matthew Stafford I’ll take the Lions at home.
Buffalo at Green Bay
8 of 16
No Green Bay nap this week. Last week they fell asleep for a couple of quarters and allowed the Eagles to hang around. This week they go full throttle. Even without Ryan Grant I’ll take the Packers.
Tampa Bay at Carolina
9 of 16
Neither team made a positive impression in the first week. I’ll take the Panthers only because they are at home.
Seattle at Denver
10 of 16
I think Seattle in Week 1 was a mirage (thanks San Francisco). Denver will put it together a few times this year. Week 2 is one of those times. I’ll take the Broncos at home.
St. Louis at Oakland
11 of 16
Neither team lit it up in Week 1. I think Jason Campbell is the answer to their quarterback quandary, but he needs to hold onto the ball. He also needs time to throw (*cough-cough* offensive line). This week is a better week for Campbell. I’ll take the Raiders.
Houston at Washington
12 of 16
Houston ran all over the Colts. Dallas had some success running the ball against Washington, but they didn’t run it enough (*cough-cough* Jason Garrett). Donovan McNabb will have a better week. This is my upset special. I’ll take the ‘Skins at home.
New England at New York Jets
13 of 16
What was the biggest loss for the Jets in Week 1? The game itself or Kris Jenkins for the season? Losing Jenkins is a huge blow to that defense. The secondary (minus Revis) looks suspect and the offense has not helped (*cough-cough* Mark Sanchez). I’ll take the Patriots in a minor upset that won’t look like one later in the year.
Jacksonville at San Diego
14 of 16
Not much to say here. The Chargers are ticked. I’ll take the Chargers.
New York Giants at Indianapolis
15 of 16
Luckily, the Colts defense won't have to catch a plane this week. Surely they can find Lucas Oil Stadium. It’s hard to imagine a Colts team starting 0-2. Freeney and Mathis go off. I’ll take the Colts.
New Orleans at San Francisco
16 of 16
New Orleans’ offense was efficient in their opener. They didn’t make any mistakes but they didn’t score a lot either. I think that changes this week. I’ll take the Saints.
