Cricket: County Championship Division One, Round 15
Division One is far from decided with only one game left as three counties can win the title while one of two teams can join Essex in Division Two next season.
Nottinghamshire are on 205 points, winning seven, drawing three, and losing five after they lost by five wickets at home to title rivals Yorkshire.
The home side were skittled for just 59 as Ajmal Shazaad (4-21) and Oliver Hannon-Dalby (4-18) took four wickets each.
Andrew Gale's 159 not out held Yorkshire's innings together, despite Andre Adams's 6-82, as they made 264.
Nottinghamshire battled to 413 second-time around as Mark Wagh made 90 but Shazaad's 4-100 ensured a victory target of 209 for the White Rose county.
Despite a wobble to 95-4, Yorkshire recovered to win by five wickets and send Nottinghamshire to their second successive defeat.
Somerset have 203 points, winning six, drawing seven, and losing two after a nine-wicket win over Lancashire.
Lancashire stumbled to 259 thanks to Shivnarine Chanderpaul's 56 and lower order contributions, as Charl Willoughby took 4-60
Somerset piled on 382, as Craig Kieswetter made an 80-ball 84 with lower order support, despite Gary Keedy's 5-81.
The Red Rose county's slim title ambitions went up in smoke as they only posted 170 second time around.
Somerset knocked off the the 48 runs they needed to take the title race into the final game.
Yorkshire have 198 points, winning six, drawing eight, and losing one after their win at Nottinghamshire, meaning they can still win the title in the final match if results go their way.
Lancashire are fourth on 176 points, winning five, drawing seven, and losing three after defeat to Somerset ended their slim title hopes.
Durham have 165 points, winning five, drawing seven, and losing three after they drew away to Essex.
Essex posted 268 thanks to Jaik Mickleburgh's 72.
Durham recovered from 5-4 to post 177, thanks to Ben Harmison's 66 as Chris Wright took 5-70 and Tony Palladino 4-57.
Matt Walker hit 105, as Alastair Cook (68), James Foster (64) and Palladino (66) all hit sixties in the home side's total of 367.
Chris Rushworth (4-90) and Ian Blackwell (4-70) limited the damage with four wickets each.
Chasing an unlikely 459, Durham made 234-6, Harmison hitting 96, before the match ended in a draw.
Hampshire survive in Division One on 153 points, winning three, drawing seven, and losing five after a 130-run win at Kent.
Jimmy Adams's 84 helped Hampshire to 204 and a vital batting point as Malinga Bandara took 4-42.
Kent could only make 182 in their first innings, as Joe Denly (42) and Martin van Jaarsveld (41) kept up the fight.
Hampshire piled on 355-9 declared second time around, despite Bandara's 4-99, as James Vince hit 68 not out.
Chasing 378, Sam Northeast (71), Darren Stevens (45) and Alex Blake (46) all chipped in but it wasn't enough as they fell 130 runs short, as Dominic Cork (4-43) and Danny Briggs (4-93) did the damage.
Warwickshire are one place above the relegation zone on 144 points, winning five, drawing one, and losing nine.
Kent have 129 points and can still stay up, after winning two, drawing six, and losing seven, including the defeat to Hampshire.
Essex are relegated to Division Two after just one season in Division One, on 126 points, winning two, drawing eight, and losing six after their draw with Durham in their final game of the season.
The last round of fixtures, September 13-16, sees title-chasing Somerset travel to holders Durham and Lancashire play Nottinghamshire, who are desperate to cling onto first place.
Yorkshire need to win and hope results go their way when they face a Kent side needing to win to avoid relegation.
Hampshire host Warwickshire, who still needs points to ensure Division One status next season.
