Predicting the NFL's Awards For the 2010-2011 Season
With the NFL Season just three days away, I figured there is no better time to predict all the awards for the 2010-2011 NFL season.
The Executive Of The Year Award
1 of 8
Winner: Jets GM Mike Tanenbaum
In 2006, he was hired as the Jets GM.
In his first draft his first two picks were D'Brickashaw Feruson and Nick Mangold. Those two now anchor his offensive line.
His next year, he drafted Darelle Revis and David Harris. We all know how good Revis turned out to be.
In 2009, he hired Rex Ryan and drafted Mark Sanchez and Shonn Greene.
After aquring Antonio Cromartie, Nick Folk, Santonio Holmes, Brodney Pool and Jason Taylor this offseason, Tannenbaum finished builing his Super Bowl contending team.
Runner Up:
Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff
Coach Of The Year
2 of 8
Winner: Mike Singletary
When he took the 49ers over mid-way through 2008, the 49ers were a mess.
They had a losing record, a bust of a number one pick, and a bad defense.
The 49ers are now the favorites in the NFC West, Alex Smith has shown signs of a breakout season, and the defense has improved.
Runner Up:
Texans Coach Gary Kubiak
AFC Player Of The Year
3 of 8
Winner: Matt Schaub
Does anybody know who led the NFL in passing yards last season?
Peyton Manning? No.
Drew Brees? Wrong.
Maybe Phillip Rivers? Wrong again.
It was Matt Schaub.
I know that because he was my fantasy team! Schaub has Andre Johnson, a good offensive line, and a stingy defense, three things that will make life alot easier for him in 2010.
Runner Up:
Titans Running Back Chris Johnson
NFC Player Of The Year
4 of 8
Winner: Brian Orakpo
It would be too easy to pick my MVP winner, so I'll go with Brian Orakpo.
In his rookie year he had 11 sacks. He is now switching to a 3-4 defensive scheme, which he may fit into even better.
As a 3-4 linebacker and occasional pass rush defensive end, Orakpo should have an even better sophmore season.
Comeback Player Of The Year Award
5 of 8
Winner: Troy Polamalu
After an injury plagued 2009 season, Troy Polamalu will want to hit his opponents that much harder in 2010.
He's so good, Head and Shoulders insured his hair for one million dollars!
Runner Up:
Redskins Tight End Chris Cooley
Offensive Rookie Of The Year Award
6 of 8
Winner: Dez Bryant
If it wasn't for some character issues, Bryant would have been a top ten pick.
He's had a ton of hype, even making headlines when he refused to carry Roy Williams should pads.
In a year, Roy Williams will be the one carrying Bryant's shoulder pads.
Defensive Rookie Of The Year
7 of 8
Winner: Ndamukong Suh
The picture says it all!
Ndamukong Suh dominated the Big 12 championship game; some think it was the most dominate performance ever by a defensive lineman.
That was against Texas, a college football powerhouse. In the preseason Suh has shown he will not be bust.
Runner Up:
Chiefs Safety Eric Berry
MVP
8 of 8
Winner: Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers had his breakout season in 2009.
4,434 yards and 30 touchdowns with just seven interceptions.
He has one of the best arms in the NFL and I predict that he will be the best QB in the NFL in the near future.
Enjoy your first MVP of many Mr. Rodgers!
Runners Up:
Texans Quarterback Matt Schaub
Titans Running Back Chris Johnson
Colts Quarterback Peyton Manning
