It is surreal that Christian Benitez was the one who scored the first goal since he plays for the Mexican team Santos Laguna.

Both teams were competing but Ecuador had the upper hand in the game. During the end of the first round, it appeared that both teams were suffering from fatigue. It was when some of the errors started to occur when they are least expected.

The Ecuadorian player Luis Checa was confused and tired which lead him to score an own goal for the Mexicans. The rest of his teammates were furious and went in a state of high alert in response to the equalizer.

Jaime Ayovi was able to remedy the situation with another goal for Ecuador within 58 minutes. Ecuador continued to play the game only to maintain its lead.

Mexico, on the other hand, attempted to equalize without success. Guillermo Ochoa was able to recover from his expperience with the first goal of the game and collaborate with Chicharito Hernandez and Vela in an attempt to counterattack.

Unfortunately, it was in vain for this game. Univision had a poll concerning the future of the coach of the Mexican National Team. The majority polled favored his retention as coach. The most valued player was Chicharito for his strong attacks and attempts at peacemaking when both teams started to lose their temper.
