Sussex moved a step closer to bouncing straight back to Division One of the County Championship in the latest round of fixtures.
The Hove-outfit reach 200 points, winning seven, drawing four, and losing two after an innings and 109-run thrashing of bottom club Derbyshire.
Wes Durston made 69 in the away side's first innings score of 242.
Sussex amassed 576-4 declared as the four top batsmen hit centuries. Ed Joyce top scored with 164.
Derbyshire made 225 second time around as Corey Collymore (4-50) and Monty Panesar (4-67) each took four wickets to ensure the win.
Glamorgan missed the chance to cement second place after losing to Middlesex by six wickets in Cardiff.
The Welsh side have 180 points, winning seven, drawing two, and losing four.
The home side missed out on a batting point by two runs despite a last-wicket stand of 62, as Pedro Collins took 4-55.
Middlesex fell from 174-5 to 181 all out after Scott Newman went for 99 as Dean Cosker took 2-0.
Jim Allenby's 91 helped Glamorgan post 232 in their second innings.
Middlesex chased down a potentially tricky 250 for the loss of four wickets for victory.
Gloucestershire have 163 points, winning six, drawing one, and losing six after a seven-wicket victory away to Northamptonshire.
The away side batted first, making 301 despite being 242-1 at one stage thanks to William Porterfield (150) and Chris Dent (92).
Northamptonshire could only muster 124 first time around and were in danger of an innings defeat at 108-7 before James Middlebrook (81) and David Murphy (55) at least made Gloucestershire bat again.
The away side reached their target of 75 for the loss of three wickets.
Worcestershire are fourth on 162 points, winning five, drawing four, and losing four after a 238-run win against Surrey at Worcester.
Worcestershire made 308 in their first innings, James Cameron top-scoring with 95, while Chris Tremlett took 4-45.
Tim Lancefield hit a first-class best of 74 as Surrey replied with 259.
Worcestershire extended their lead thanks to Alexei Kervezee's 152-ball 144, despite Chris Tremlett's (4-42) best efforts.
Chasing 369, Surrey fell to just 130 as Shakib Al-Hasan took 6-42.
Northamptonshire have 155 points, winning six, drawing two, and losing five after their defeat to promotion-rivals Gloucestershire.
Leicestershire had no game this round so stay on 151 points, winning five, drawing three, and losing five.
Middlesex have played a game more than everyone else on 142 points, winning four, drawing four, and losing six after their win against Glamorgan.
Surrey have 124 points, winning three, drawing four, and losing six after their defeat by Worcestershire.
Derbyshire stay bottom on 105 points, winning two, drawing four, and losing seven after their hammering by leaders Sussex.
The next round of fixtures sees Leicestershire face Surrey August 24-27.
August 25-28 has Derbyshire home to Middlesex and Northamptonshire facing Worcestershire.
Sussex play Glamorgan in a potential promotion decider August 27-30.
