WWE Stock Watch: Nexus Stock Split, Evan Bourne, Miz/Morrison
Coming off a polarizing SummerSlam pay-per-view, Big Nasty Securities returns with its latest shareholders meeting to assess the value of key WWE stocks.
The particular booking of the SummerSlam main event afforded us the opportunity to split the Nexus stock and evaluate individual members of the Nexus based on how we think they will likely be booked long term.
In addition to the Nexus, other familiar WWE talent has seen an obvious rise or fall that commensurate with being a part of the wrestling business.
Let's go stockwatching.

STOCK UP: Wade Barrett
1 of 12
It's no secret that Wade Barrett has been the focal point of the Nexus stable. Barrett is the best talker and standout star of the the Nexus stable with the right look and all the tools to be a multiple time world champion in the future.
The WWE's booking blunder at SummerSlam, that saw the Nexus leader tap out to the STF within seconds of seeing fellow Nexus member Justin Gabriel eliminated, was somewhat atoned for when Barrett was one of the few Nexus to go over clean this past Monday night. It doesn't hurt that this much needed win came against Chris Jericho.
Look for Wade Barrett to receive a favorable push as the WWE slowly but surely moves away from the Nexus angle. And if they remember the fact that he earned a title shot of his choosing upon winning WWE NXT, that will be all the more positive for this rising star's rising stock.
STOCK UP: Skip Sheffield
2 of 12
Skip Sheffield has been booked as a big dumb animal which should be expected by anyone with a Southern accent who has aspirations of WWE superstardom. However Sheffield has evolved into a big dumb monster who looks dominant in victory and is protected in defeat.
Upon being eliminated from Team Nexus at SummerSlam, Sheffield took two chair shots and two finishers (codebreaker, spear) before ultimately being vanquished. This is the WWE's way of saying "sure he was eliminated, but look what it took to get the job done."
Insider information has it that the next time Sheffield has to do a job, the WWE will implement a tranquilizer spot in order for this monster to finally succumb to the sweet sounds of unconsciousness.
Sheffield earned the victory for his team while tagging with the mighty green David Otunga, and his running Lariat finisher is always featured as part of the Nexus' signature beatdowns.
Look for the stock of baby Batista to continue to rise as Sheffield has the quintessential physique (not to mention color) that make Vince's eyes glaze over.
STOCK UP: Justin Gabriel
3 of 12
Justin Gabriel's skill set is more appropriate for a babyface, but good timing and better facials have made Gabriel a formidable heel, in the "closer" role, as part of the Nexus stable.
Gabriel has a bright future as a heartthrob babyface a la Jeff Hardy, and is not so bad in the present as he continues to thrive under the tutelage of Wade Barrett and favorable booking.
A Nexus beatdown just isn't a Nexus beatdown without Justin Gabriel's 450 splash, and favorable booking has earned Gabriel the distinction of being one of the more non-expendable members of this stable.
Like other stocks owned by Nexus Inc. not named Wade Barrett, this is a cheap stock that could easily blossom into a very valuable asset for your portfolio.
STOCK UP: The Miz
4 of 12
For the second straight month, the Miz is featured as a rising stock. While we do not like featuring the same stocks on our stock watch reports on a month to month basis, especially in the same position they were last week, the Miz has undoubtedly made that jump into the rarefied air of an uncrowned champion and top star.
Fresh off of a media-friendly visit of the George Lopez show, and continuing to do everything asked of him both inside of the ring and out, the Miz is now being groomed to be the next WWE Champion.
The only difference between Miz and the monstrously pushed Lex Express is that the Lex Express had a bus.
The Miz's great promo at SummerSlam was one of the highlights on an overall disappointing show, and Miz will be a major player for years to come.
This is likely the last time the Miz's stock will be featured on our Stock Watch analysis as this stock's price is getting too expensive to warrant mentioning in a shareholder's meeting where the objective is to highlight the best value stocks (meaning affordable stocks that will eventually pay exponential dividends).
STOCK UP: Daniel Bryan
5 of 12
We advised our shareholders to invest in Daniel Bryan last week despite the fact that he was not even signed to a mainstream promotion.
This is the brilliance that is Big Nasty Securities as the prescient advice to acquire the, then, cheap stock should make investors in Daniel Bryan Inc. a small fortune.
Bryan's recent return to the WWE during what we deemed was Daniel Bryan month, will only mean good things for the time being as he will likely win the United States Championship as a means for the creative team to take the belt off Miz on his way to the WWE Championship.
Daniel Bryan as United States Champion would add value to this title as he would be best booked as a fighting champion, featured in strong wrestling contests that add much needed heat to the secondary title.
Only time will tell, when it comes to the long term booking plans of Daniel Bryan, but this "start" stock is looking very good.
STOCK UP: Michael Cole
6 of 12
Say what you want to say about Michael Cole, but Cole has recently gotten in touch with his inner Bobby Heenan and become somewhat of a breath of fresh air as the hybrid heel play-by-play man, something that really has not been seen since Jim Ross tried and failed.
Michael Cole's continual admiration of the Miz and subsequent full on heel character as an anti-internet crusader on WWE NXT is hitting on all cylinders. Cole is getting the right type of heat, and a little bird has told us that he is the front runner to be named the RAW GM.
Such a promotion would be predictable, but it would be the right move as it would turn Cole into one of the top heels in all of the WWE. Based on the feedback he gets from the majority of wrestling fans, this would not be an ill-advised move.
Buy stock in Michael Cole Inc. now. You will not be disappointed. Is he Jim Ross? No. But Jim Ross is gone so get over it. His stock isn't even in our index at the moment.
STOCK DOWN: Darren Young
7 of 12
Losing to John Cena in a match where the inexperienced, yet impressive, Darren Young held his own for an extended period of time in the main event, Darren Young's unceremonious banishment from the Nexus stable could spell doom.
Shoot: This is the part where I am reminded of why I got into sports journalism as far as wrestling is concerned. The Dave Meltzer's, Kevin Eck's, and Jason Powell's of the world (who I greatly respect) can't and/or won't say what I'm about to say. I can. It's one of the pitfalls of mainstream pro wrestling journalism being so Caucasian with no African American voice. But have no fear, Big Nasty is here, and I'll be that voice.
The Booking of Darren Young, particularly in his match with John Cena and subsequent angle with the Nexus, is a quintessential example of how disadvantageous being a minority in the WWE really is.
Darren Young is John Cena. From their build, to their appearance, the two are splitting images of one another. This has been mentioned numerous times on the Internet and was even poked fun at by John Cena himself.
The only difference is basically their skin color (give or take a bad hairstyle).
Despite their striking similarities, which could be seen as an auspicious sign for Young, John Cena is the top star in the WWE by leaps and bounds while Darren Young (same look, similar physique) is the worst booked member of an upstart stable.
We recommend you buy stock in Darren Young Inc. sparingly if at all. The WWE's pattern of booking minorities, which is exemplified with the very booking of the minorities in this stable, are unfavorable for a stock of this nature especially now that Young has been ousted from the Nexus group.
With fellow minority Percy Watson recently eliminated from WWE NXT, Darren Young's only hope is reforming the South Beach Boyz and going after the new look WWE Spartan Tag Team Titles.
STOCK DOWN: Michael Tarver
8 of 12
Michael Tarver, while he's shown potential on the mic and does have a cool finisher, is still quite green and still needs to develop in the ring.
A tainted win over Daniel Bryan did Tarver little to no favors as this match was simply utilized as a catalyst for the continuation of the Miz/Bryan feud.
Tarver is great in his 'henchman' role in team Nexus, and outside of Wade Barrett his promos are the only ones that deliver.
We would recommend that you closely watch this stock, however do not get too ambitious in your acquisition of Michael Tarver Inc. for reasons that will be outside of his control.
STOCK DOWN: Zack Ryder
9 of 12
Whatever happened to Zack Ryder?
Once upon a time, Zack Ryder Inc. was considered an ambitious penny stock investment with the potential of making efficient shareholders into millionaires.
Fast forward to present day, and Zack Ryder now finds himself doing the job to WWE Rookies.
Luckily, these jobs are on WWE NXT on ScyFy where nobody watches.
Zack Ryder's recent alterations to his gear, where he now wears trunks instead of his half and half pant/truck hybrids, is the antithesis of Miz's decision to transition to more classic wrestling gear that was the beginning of a significant push.
It seems that Zack Ryder's aforementioned change in gear is Ryder saying "they're not doing anything with me, why look like an idiot in the process".
Ryder's stock is dangerously low, and Cody Rhodes' recent 'future endeavored' comment was not too far from reality. If that comment wasn't made on WWE NXT on Scyfy, we would fear that a powerbroker was actually watching and might have gotten an idea.
STOCK DOWN: Evan Bourne
10 of 12
Remember when Evan Bourne was going over main event talent like it was the thing to do?
No longer is Evan Bourne used as a beneficiary of the youth movement as he has slowly degenerated into a casualty.
Being on the receiving end of a one sided loss to the Miz a couple weeks ago on RAW, being beat down by the Nexus without getting his heat back, and being one of the few superstars the WWE lets Sheamus beat clean have all but sealed Bourne's fate as an enhancement talent.
Despite being unfavorably booked in recent history, Evan Bourne's superior work rate and charisma will keep this stock above water as a serviceable stock for cunning investors.
STOCK DOWN: John Morrison
11 of 12
John Morrison has done everything and more to prove the Miz right that he very well be the Marty Jannetty of their successful tag team endeavor.
Morrison has never gone over his counterpart, to the best of our memory, and he has not had a career defining win since his original push when he was first christened as a babyface.
Currently in "stop" mode from a creative standpoint, Morrison's value is increasingly hurt as he is one of the handful of young wrestlers being left for dead during the WWE's so called youth movement.
Keep your eye on this stock, however we do not recommend you make any significant purchases until Morrison begins getting some quality wins under his belt to improve his brand.
STOCK DOWN: Alicia Fox
12 of 12
On the outside looking in of the latest big angle involving the Women's/Diva Championship, Alicia Fox has been on the fast track to Diva demotion at a pace that would make Gail Kim look like Trish Stratus.
Since the shaky return of Melina, who continues to underwhelm in the ring, Alicia Fox has become but a casualty of a return that has not been as good as advertised.
Big Nasty Securities advises that you sell all remaining stock in Alicia Fox Inc. The stock had its run, but its bubble has now busted.
