Three Reasons Brett Favre Should Play for the Anaheim Ducks
With Brett Favre officially announcing his return to football once again, I could not help but think about the Anaheim Ducks.
Based on recent history, Favre would fit right in with the Ducks and if he could learn how to skate he would be playing with his long lost brothers.
What follows are three reasons he should hang up the cleats and head to California.
1 - Scott Niedermayer

Scott Niedermayer announced on June 19th, 2007 that he was contemplating retirement. Almost three months later he announced he was still unsure if he wanted to play.
Anaheim suspended him when training camp started and he waited until 28 games into the season before he made a decision. One only knows if he just wanted to miss the first portion of the season to lesson the grind of an arduous NHL schedule, but on December 5th he made his return.
The following season he again thought about retiring before deciding he would come back for at least one more season.
This perennial back n forth finally came to an end this past June as he officially announced his retirement from the NHL.
2 - Teemu Selanne

After the Stanley Cup win in 2007, Teemu Selanne also considered retiring from the NHL. Like Niedermayer, he waited until later in the 2008 season before finally resigning in 2008.
Two seasons later he announced to the league that he would come back for one more year because players his age do not belong in the NHL.
Yet, it appears that Selanne was able to shake the retirement bug one last time as he recently said he will return for the 2010 season.
3 - Paul Kariya

Paul Kariya did not leave the Ducks on good terms in 2003. Ever since he has toiled in the league battling injuries. He desperately wants to win a cup and is currently wondering if that chance has passed.
Once again, he is deciding between hanging up the laces and signing with the Anaheim Ducks.
Conclusion

It seems the Anaheim Ducks attract players who like to wax back and forth with retirement and this summer has been no different.
It's obvious they have all been taking notes from the man who does it best--Brett Favre.
Most around the NFL are sick and tired of the yearly merry-go-round.
However, if he could switch over to hockey and sign with the Ducks, he could have a fresh start in a city full of fans and players who both understand and relate to him.
