2010 SummerSlam Preview: Your Guide To The Biggest Event Of The Summer
In less than 36 hours, the Biggest Event of the Summer, SummerSlam, will come to the WWE Universe live from Los Angeles.
The build to the event has been centered around the huge seven-on-seven tag match between Team WWE and The Nexus.
Two world championship matches support the main event, both ripe with tension and anticipation.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Speculation is rampant after Raw and SmackDown!'s go-home shows have concluded. Who will replace The Great Khali on Team WWE? Does Sheamus have any chance against the red-hot Viper?
All of the WWE Universe's questions will be answered emphatically at the Staples Center tomorrow night, but until then, I will provide a match-by-match breakdown of what to look for at SummerSlam.
Divas Championship: Alicia Fox (c) v. Melina
There isn't much analysis needed here.
The returning Melina brings with her some much-needed star power to a floundering Divas division. While Alicia Fox is coming around, she's nowhere near the level Melina is at.
Look for Melina to get the victory and the Divas Championship, starting a long feud between she and Fox that could shine a positive spotlight onto the Divas division for the first time in quite a while.
Straight Edge Society v. Big Show
It seems WWE creative threw this match onto the card to keep CM Punk (and, to a lesser extent, the Straight Edge Society) and Big Show fresh in the viewer's mind.
If WWE wants a Punk-Show feud to continue on, the win will go to Big Show. Creative must be careful, however, when planning a Big Show victory. If Show is too dominant, it could harm the future of the SES.
The World Heavyweight Championship picture appears to be set going forward, meaning neither Punk nor Show have a place in it. Big Show gets the victory Sunday to keep the feud going and keep Punk fresh for a WHC feud this winter.
Intercontinental Title: Dolph Ziggler (c) v. Kofi Kingston
I'm surely not alone in saying Dolph Ziggler's IC title victory was long overdue. It's good to see Ziggler with singles gold, despite the way he won it.
Many members of the IWC seem to believe Kofi Kingston's recent mean streak is indicative of an upcoming heel turn, but I can't get behind that idea. Kingston is built as a face, and his recent run of intensity shows me more of a small character push than a potential heel turn.
With creative just saddling Ziggler with Intercontinental gold, I can't see him dropping the title tomorrow night. Another dirty win seems in order, as Ziggler and Kingston use their IC title feud as possible preparation for the main event in 2011.
WWE Title: Sheamus (c) v. Randy Orton
The consequences of a loss for Randy Orton are dire: Lose, and head to the back of the WWE Title contenders' line.
In the WWE Universe, however, such ultimatums are rarely as simple as they appear.
WWE appears to be set as legitimizing Sheamus as a physical force atop Raw, so it makes very little sense to give Orton the title and end Sheamus' current title reign. It will be incredibly hard to take Sheamus seriously if he immediately loses the title after winning in controversial fashion at Fatal Four-Way.
Any interference will earn any guilty parties a 90-day suspension thanks to a recent decree by Raw's still anonymous General Manager. The anonymous GM never said anything about cheating to win, however. Look for The Celtic Warrior to earn a dirty victory or retain via disqualification, continuing the Sheamus-Orton feud into the fall.
World Heavyweight Title: Kane (c) v. Rey Mysterio
The chances Rey Mysterio leaves Los Angeles as World Heavyweight Champion become more remote by the hour. While a slim chance still exists, Mysterio's lingering injuries tell me his most recent world title reign may be his last.
Internet reports from multiple sites report The Undertaker is very likely to make an appearance at tomorrow night's event.
After Kane defeats Mysterio with a Tombstone, the champion will drag the prone body of his unsuccessful opponent to the casket at ringside. Kane will raise the lid to the casket to bury Mysterio for good. Instead, The Undertaker will be waiting to reveal the identity of his attacker...Kane.
Team WWE v. The Nexus
With 14 superstars involved in one match, there are a plethora of angles to examine and possibilities seem almost endless.
This match's outcome, however, doesn't raise much of a question. Wade Barrett will be left standing, claiming victory for The Nexus.
How we get to that point, however, is a tricky task to tackle.
Likely left alone with numerous members of Nexus will be John Cena. Before falling to Barrett under controversial circumstances, Cena will even the odds from a likely three- or four-on-one deficit.
A hot topic around the IWC lately has been the ending of this match, and who could possibly turn heel to cost Team WWE the match. While John Morrison appears on the brink of a heel turn, the payoff of such a huge angle won't likely end with a superstar of Morrison's current caliber turning.
And as much as many of us in the IWC would like to see Cena turn heel, it just seems too unlikely. Not because of the supposed merchandise loss (fans will still buy Cena merchandise, and a Cena heel turn would likely increase sales for Randy Orton merchandise) but because it would be nearly impossible to logically explain the constant attacks Nexus executed on Cena.
The name that seems most likely for a heel turn is Bret Hart.
He is surely not in the match for his in-ring ability. Maybe his inclusion is an effort to increase star power, but it seems just as likely that Hart could be in the position to be revealed as the leader of The Nexus.
And that attack on Hart perpetrated by The Nexus? Hart said himself that it isn't hard to fake an injury, as evidenced by his feigned leg injury prior to WrestleMania XXVI.
Don't rule out the return of Triple H, however. Despite rampant Internet reports that The Game may not return until after Survivor Series, Triple H's mic work alone could carry him through the next month or two, should his injuries heal faster than expected.
The order of eliminations of The Nexus should give us a glimpse into the futures of the seven remaining NXT Season One superstars. Michael Tarver and Darren Young will likely fall early, while Justin Gabriel and Skip Sheffield may be the final two men standing next to Barrett.
Controversy seems to be the only guaranteed factor in tomorrow night's elimination match. That controversy, along with a victory for the heel faction, means The Nexus won't be going away any time soon.
