County Championship Division Two Update
Sussex climbed back on top of the Division Two table in one of only two games taking place due to the Twenty20 Cup.
Sussex sit top on 135 points, winning five, drawing two, and losing two after an eight-wicket win against Gloucestershire.
Gloucestershire batted first and made a competitive 307 thanks to Chris Taylor's 89.
Sussex replied with 389 as Robin Martin-Jenkins top scored with 78 while Vikram Banerjee took 5-94.
Gloucestershire crumbled to 131 in their second innings courtesy of Monty Panesar's 5-44, Hamish Marshall hitting 89 not out and Alex Gidman (18) the only other batsman to score more than four.
The home side chased down their target of 50 for the loss of two wickets to leapfrog their opponents in the table.
Gloucestershire slip to second on 130 points, winning five, drawing one, and losing four games after their loss to Sussex.
Glamorgan are third on 128 points, winning five, drawing one, and losing three after they missed the chance to top the table with a 10 wicket defeat to Northamptonshire.
The home side batted first amassing 494 thanks to David Sales (127) and Nicky Boje (98), Jamie Dalrymple the pick of the bowlers with 4-71.
Glamorgan recovered from 122-8 to post 207 in reply, Jim Allenby's unbeaten 59 the main resistance as Elton Chigumbura took 4-67.
Following on Glamorgan made a better response with 325, Mark Cosgrove hitting 115 but Andrew Hall's 4-49 ensured an easy victory target for Northamptonshire.
They knocked off the 39 they needed for victory in 13.1 overs.
Their win lifts them up to fourth on 123 points, winning five, drawing one, and losing three games.
The rest of the table were not in action so stay the same as the last update.
Leicestershire in fifth on 111 points, Worcestershire on 102, Surrey with 86, Derbyshire on 83 and bottom of the table Middlesex on 82.
