Arsenal Fail With £3m Bid for Fulham Goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer
Fulham have rejected Arsenal's opening bid of close to £3m for Mark Schwarzer.
Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has confirmed the clubs interest in Fulham shot stopper Mark Schwarzer.
It was reported earlier that Arsene Wenger is interested in the experienced goal keeper as a short term fix to his side's goal keeping problems.
"We have made an enquiry for him and they are not prepared to sell him so we have gone away. We can only hope they will change their minds, but at the moment it doesn't look like it." said Hill-Wood according to British paper Daily Star .
Schwarzer has one-year left on his contract, but has told Hodgson that he wants to leave.
Schwarzer made his intentions of a move clear when he commented on the reports linking manager Roy Hodgson to Liverpool.
He said, "It is Liverpool you are talking about, a huge club, who normally compete in the Champions League every season.
"There are four or five such clubs in the country and there would be very few managers or players who would find it difficult to resist going to them."
Arsenal Chairman also confirmed that talks over a new contract with central defender William Gallas have failed.
"He is asking for too much for too long," said Hill-Wood. "Players are going to have to learn some time that money doesn’t grow on trees."
