County Championship Division Two, Round Seven
Glamorgan remain top of Division Two after another win while Surrey picked up their first victory of the season in the latest round of matches.
Glamorgan have five wins and two defeats on 116 points after their 10 wicket victory over Leicestershire.
Leicestershire won the toss and batted at home but only Paul Nixon (90) and Andrew McDonald (113) took advantage as they were all out for 291.
Glamorgan struggled in reply, making 166 as Matthew Hoggard took 4-32.
The home side recorded the lowest County Championship score this season as only James Taylor (34 not out) reached double figures in his side's 71 with David Harrison taking 4-17.
The Welsh side chased down the target of 197 without loss to win comfortably, Mark Cosgrove finishing unbeaten on 113 then 111 balls.
Sussex are second on 101 points after four wins, two defeats, and a draw after ending their streak of two straight defeats with a draw at home to Worcestershire.
Worcestershire piled on 464 with Ben Scott top scoring with 98.
Sussex slipped to 217-8 before recovering to 328 all out, Murray Goodwin hitting 111 as Richard Jones took 7-115.
The away side scored 205-6 before the match ended in a draw.
Gloucestershire are third on 96 points after four wins and three defeats as they won their match at Derby by 134 runs.
The away side batted first and made 242, helped by a staggering 76 extras.
Derbyshire replied with 345 as Chris Rogers and Chesney Hughes made centuries, while Vikram Banerjee took 4-62.
Gloucestershire fared better second time as they scored 403, Chris Dent top scoring with 98.
Chasing 301 for victory, only Hughes (75) threatened as the home side failed to 166 all out as Jon Lewis took 4-25.
Worcestershire are fourth on 89 points with three wins, one defeat, and two draws after their draw with Sussex.
Northamptonshire are fifth on 76 points with three wins, three defeats, and a draw after they became the first side to lose to Surrey in the County Championship this season.
The home side began well, scoring 397 in their first innings as Mal Loye hit 164 while Tim Linley claimed 5-105.
Surrey were indebted to a last wicket partnership of 118 to keep in touch at 386 as Andre Nel (96) and Jake Dernbach (56 not out) hit their highest first class scores.
Northamptonshire made 229 in their second innings, Nel taking 4-68.
Surrey chased down their target of 241 for the loss of only three wickets.
Derbyshire are sixth on 71 points after two wins, four defeats, and one draw following their defeat to Gloucestershire.
Middlesex are seventh on 67 points after two wins, four defeats, and a draw, but did not play this round.
Leicestershire are eighth on 57 points with two wins and four defeats after their loss to Glamorgan.
Surrey remain bottom on 52 points, but now have a win to their name as well as three defeats and two draws.
The next round of matches, May 29-June 1, sees Glamorgan face Surrey, Leicestershire play Middlesex, and Worcestershire against Gloucestershire.
