Here’s why your MLB picks have cashed in for high scorers for some teams with woeful staffs this year.
Season Standings
1: Arizona Diamondbacks (30-13-2) – The Diamondbacks just aren’t leaving this list any time in the near future. They became the first team to reach 30 ‘overs’ on the season, and there’s no reason to believe that this recent string of high scorers won’t still be great for future MLB picks either. Arizona has blasted 57 homers this year, the third best mark in the majors, and it is slugging .795 as a team, #2 in the league. Parlay that with the most disappointing pitching staff in baseball, and the recipe remains ripe for ‘over’ after ‘over’.

2: Milwaukee Brewers (27-14-3) – Maybe taking RHP Trevor Hoffman out of the closer’s role was a good thing for ‘under’ bettors for the Brewers. On Sunday, Hoffman, making his 1,000th career appearance, was used in the eighth inning of a 4-3 game. The offense has surprisingly struggled of late, scoring four runs or fewer in seven out of eight games. Is it a sign that Milwaukee is set to fall off this list for the first time all year? Don’t be so sure. The Brew Crew returns home this week, where they are 12-4-2 for ‘over’ bettors on the season.
3: Los Angeles Dodgers (25-18-1) – LA’s ‘over’ tear has been tempered just a bit thanks to the fact that the squad is missing its best hitter in RF Andre Ethier. The Dodgers have averaged 4.38 runs per game, a solid three quarters of a run lower than their season average, with Ethier out of the lineup, the current end result have been a nice comfortable mix of ‘overs’ and ‘unders’ this past week.
Who’s Hot?
1: New York Yankees (6-1) – The Bronx Bombers lived up to their moniker this week by scoring at least six runs four times, but the major issue has all of a sudden become the pitching staff. The team allowed an average of 6.57 runs per game last week and has suddenly lost five out of six games to fall into a huge six game hole in the AL East standings. Things had better turn around in a hurry, or the Bronx may be burning.
2: Toronto Blue Jays (5-1-1) – Let’s give it up for the Toronto offense, which has plated at least ten runs three times since May 14th and has scored at least five runs seven times in that stretch to boot. The Jays just continue to tear the cover off the baseball, blasting a whopping 76 home runs in their first 46 games, which is far and away the best mark in the bigs.
3: Arizona Diamondbacks (5-1-1) – Why should we not be overly surprised that the D’Backs are sitting towards the top of the list for ‘over’ mlb betting fans again this week? Five straight games have flown past the number for Arizona after a lackluster start to the week with a push and an ‘under’.
