PGA Tour Stays South :San Antonio,Irving, and Fort Worth, The Texas Swing

Thomas MorelandMay 17, 2010

The Valero Texas Open, the first event of the Texas Swing was won by Adam Scott.

Scott played very well all weekend and finally ended his two-year win-less streak.

This week brings the HP Byron Nelson Classic, which will be played at the TPC Four Seasons Course, Las Colinas, in Irving, Texas.

Rory Sabbattini is the defending champion here, but is not playing well enough of late to be a major factor.

I like Heath Slocum to win this week as my A-player in Yahoo Fantasy Golf. My backup will be Kenny Perry, if Slocum somehow does not play well this week.

Last week, I picked up some fantasy ground as my team of Els, Holmes, Jacobson, and Lyle, finished third, 13th, second, and 41st respectively in the tournament.

I am now ahead of two out of the four Yahoo experts for the Spring, and full season.

This week as my B-players, I will take J.B. Holmes, and Bo Van Pelt. Holmes is playing very well of late, and I thought he might win last week at the Valero Texas Open.

My B-player backups will be Dustin Johnson and Garrett Willis.

My C-player will be Ben Crane with Joe Durant as my backup.

The last stop on the Texas PGA Tour swing will be at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. This is the Ben Hogan stop on the PGA Tour played in Fort Worth, Texas.

Many players do not like missing this event out of respect for one of the greatest players ever.

Steve Stricker is your defending champion, and I probably will pick him to possibly repeat here. Stricker will be my A-player in this event, with Phil Mickelson as my backup plan.

My B-players at Colonial will be K.J. Choi and Camilo Villegas, with Lee Westwood and Retief Goosen as my backups.

I think Westwood might finally get a win over here, sometime.

My C-player at the Hogan will be Matt Kuchar, with Ben Crane as his backup.

I would have thought Tiger always play at Colonial, but I guess a big star has to choose his spots. Besides—his neck may still hurt—Aww!

Try a round of golf on one leg with crutches, a huge steel device, and five rods sticking out of your leg...you quitter!

Just thought I'd vent a little.

I shot 93 that day, and beat two out of four people I was playing with on a windy course.

Have a nice day.
