Is Pro Wrestling Finally Listening To Its Fans?

John BetschelMay 11, 2010

When it comes to professional wrestling, the Internet wrestling community has a lot to say.

We write to express our opinions, let fans know about breaking news, as well as other other things, hoping that just maybe, someone higher up in the business will read our articles, and listen to what we have to say.

After some of the things that have been happening lately, could that wish have finally come true?

For months now, people have been talking about two things: How big of a mistake it was for TNA moving to Mondays to try and compete with the WWE, and the whole celebrity guest host thing on Monday Night Raw.

Now, I among others, am one of those people who have been writing and complaining about both developments.

Now all of a sudden, we get results.

TNA announced on Impact a week ago that they have listened to the fans, and have decided to go back to Thursday nights.

Then this week on Raw, Edge announces that the guest hosts will no longer have any authority or power on the show.

Which made me think, "OK, if they don't have any power, then what’s the f'n point of having a celebrity guest host anymore?"

Then Edge said the magic words: Raw would now have a permanent general manager.

As soon as he said that, I knew exactly who it would be Vickie Guerrero.

Lo and behold, I was right. Edge brings out Guerrero, and she does her whole "Excuse Me" spiel, like always.

After these two things happened, I then started thinking to myself, "Could the world of pro wrestling really be starting to listen to the Internet wrestling community?"

Then they announce that American hero and astronaut Buzz Aldrin will be hosting Raw next week, and once again I'm thinking, "Why are they continuing the whole celebrity guest host thing now that they have Guerrero as the permanent GM?"

Then at the end of the show, as Randy Orton lures over Guerrero with that demented look in his eyes, she utters the words that just made me sick, "I resign!"

She uttered them over and over, before Edge briefly distracted Orton, and led to an RKO on Edge on the floor by the announcer's table, allowing Guerrero to make her escape from the ring.

So we're left wondering what's going to happen next. Will Guerrero return? Will the executives appoint a new GM, or will they continue to use these awful celebrity guest hosts that have absolutely nothing to do with wrestling?

But this brings me to my question of whether or not pro wrestling is finally listening to the International Wrestling Cartel (IWC)?

After what happened with the whole GM thing, I'm going to say maybe.

It's obvious that if enough people complain they finally listen, but whether or not they are listening to us, the IWC, is another thing.

Before the whole Guerrero suddenly resigning thing, I was thinking that maybe they finally are listening to what we have to say, but now I'm not so sure.

What do you think?
